Online furniture retailer Wayfair has partnered with Tesco to offer a selection of furniture, lighting, décor and other home goods on Tesco Direct.
Wayfair's participation in the online marketplace will allow Tesco to add a selection of home products to its online offering and deliver a seamless shopping experience to its customers. The partnership further extends Wayfair's reach in the UK, building upon the growth of Wayfair's European Web site.
"Tesco Direct offers Wayfair an unparalleled global channel to reach millions of new households in the UK," said Niraj Shah, CEO and co-founder of Wayfair. "We're building the world's largest international network of home furnishing options coupled with a logistically sophisticated and localized shopping experience that is transforming the way people shop for home products. Together with Tesco, we're bringing the Wayfair experience to a much broader range of shoppers, showing customers that it's easy and safe to make major home furnishings purchases online."
According to the company, Wayfair is on track to exceed 2011 figures which were more than £300 million worth of global sales. The company celebrated its 1000th employee earlier this year and is expanding its team and product selection in the UK, Germany and Australia. Wayfair currently offers 20,000 products on Tesco Direct and plans to increase that number to 60,000 by end of the year.
"Wayfair brings an extensive catalogue of home products and furniture to complement the great range already available on Tesco Direct," said Neela Mukherjee of Tesco Direct.

Urbia Imports is rebranding to better represent the company as an upscale brand.
The company will now do business as Urbia, dropping the Imports from its name. A new logo offers a modern look with organic and architectural components that represent the brand.
"We are very excited about the new logo," said Angelo Bergamini, national sales manger. "The new look is indicative of where the company is going. Over the past two years the company has experienced tremendous growth from the company's unique product line of contemporary reclaimed and repurposed hardwoods. The new name and appearance now convey the Urbia brand that offers today's retailer and design community an edge, as well as an alternative resource for "something different."
Along with a new logo, the company has strengthened its commitment to the High Point Market by signing a long-term lease with the Commerce & Design Building. The company's 4000-square-foot showroom, located on the 5th floor, is being renovated for the show.
"April's showing at the C&D Building delivered huge results for Urbia in both attendance numbers and overall sales," said Gary Gevurtz, president. "We anticipate greater increases for October's Market."
