ICFA Elects 2013 Officers, Directors

The International Casual Furnishings Association elected its 2013 officers and directors at its Annual Membership Meeting in Chicago.

Ward Usmar of TUUCI  was elected chairman, and Gary McCray of Laneventure was elected vice chairman

Elected to one-year terms on the ICFA executive committee were retailers Greg Martin, Kolo Collection in Atlanta, and Doug Sanicola, Outdoor Elegance in La Verne, Calif. Eric Parsons of supplier Gloster Furniture also joined the committee.

Nine individuals were named to three-year terms on the board of directors. They include: retailers Marcia Blake, Glen Raven Custom Fabrics, Laguna Niguel, Calif.; Cathy Galbreath, ABSCO Fireplace & Patio, Birmingham, Ala.; and Debbie Stegman, Patio & Hearth Shoppes, Dayton, Ohio; and sales representative, Todd Crandall, Crandall & Associates, Roswell, Ga. Also manufacturers Steve Elton, Brown Jordan; Eric Graham, Century Leisure; Gary McCray, Laneventure, Conover, N.C.; Rory Rehmert, Pride Family Brands; and Jan Trinkley, Gensun Casual Living

Three were named to one-year terms on the board, including retailer John Billings of Daylight Home & Patio, and manufacturers Brenda Pereyda, Mallin Casual Furniture, and Natalie Scott, Outdura.

Theodore Alexander Expands High Point Showroom

Luxury furniture vendor Theodore Alexander has expanded its High Point Furniture Market showroom to accommodate its TRS Furniture upholstery division.

The move to Theodore Alexander€™s newly expanded showroom at 229 West Russell Ave. will nearly double the recently acquired TRS€™s footprint to more than 10,000 square feet. This allows Theodore Alexander to present an extensive selection of new introductions along with the entire current line of product, and to provide fabric and marketing services for all customers in keeping with Theodore Alexander€™s exceptional sales service standards.

The current growth of Theodore Alexander€™s upholstery category is on target with the company€™s strategic initiatives to become a complete luxury home furnishings source. The showroom will display the new and current line along with selections of more than 150 new fabrics. All settings are shown alongside complementary table groups, accessories and lighting. The expanded showroom will house a fabric workroom with a team of dedicated upholstery specialists to assist clients with product selections and merchandising. The space also has an open concept layout with abundant natural light.

Throughout the new upholstery display area offerings will encompass a broader color spectrum while maintaining the legacy of fine textiles for which TRS is known.

€œWe began planning the new expansion in January," said Thomas Woller, president of Theodore Alexander Upholstery. "It will allow us to provide the TRS customer with the amenities and exceptional experience our Theodore Alexander customers have come to enjoy.€

Next Generation-Now Huddle Focuses on Technology

Luonto Furniture Expands by 50% in High Point

Upholstered furniture vendor Luonto Furniture will move to a new, larger showroom for High Point Furniture Market.

The new showroom, space 306 in the 220 Elm Building(http://220elm.com/), gives Luonto 50 percent more space, and places it in a building with more than 70 exhibitors, such as Palliser Furniture, W. Schillig, and Home Meridian International, many in the contemporary category.

"As far as the location, it is in a prime area where contemporary buyers are already shopping the building," said Chuck Rudwall, president & CEO. "We felt it would be a great fit as we grow as a company and expand our product line."

Luonto Furniture, a division of Pohjanmaan Kaluste Oy, Scandinavia€™s largest upholstery manufacturer, has exhibited in High Point Market since 2011. It has a local stocking warehouse in Greensboro, N.C., and permanent customer service offices in the United States.

"Living" Dining Room Installation Set for High Point

A unique installation celebrating the home furnishings and design industries will be unveiled at next month€™s High Point Furniture Market.

Designed by famed floral designer Randy McManus, the "Living" Dining Room is a full-scale room design created entirely of flowers and plants. It will be on display at the corner of Commerce Avenue and Main Street in the pedestrian walkway.
 
€œThis fresh-air exhibit showcases the design talent that is prevalent in the home fashion world,€ said Tammy Nagem, chief operating officer of the High Point Market Authority. €œRandy€™s incredible creation is a tour de force that celebrates the High Point Market€™s role as the place to discover new trends and products, and to find inspiration and creativity.€
