Area rug source Art Resources will debut a new division at High Point Furniture Market in a new 4,691-square-foot showroom, Market Square, space 294.
The company, known for its fashionable, high-end Oriental rugs, has created a new rug division priced in the mid-range of the market that will target furniture stores and mass merchandisers. A typical 8 by 10-foot model will be priced from $500 to $1,600 retail. A range of designs will be offered, including traditional, but the line will focus on transitional and modern styles.
Were offering an eclectic mix of quality, hand-knotted rugs imported from India, said Eddie Simantob, a partner in the business with his brother Jack. They are designed to appeal to a broad range of tastes, with very affordable price points.
Based in Los Angeles, where it also has a warehouse that serves the West, Art Resources also has an East Coast office and warehouse in Secaucus, N.J. The 30-year-old company currently sells its line mostly through rug specialty stores. High-end products are imported from Afghanistan and Pakistan.
As Art Resources works to expand its customer base, the companys recently enhanced Web site will offer a valuable tool for retailers, according to Eddie Simantob.
We offer retailers and consumers the ability to search our entire line by shape and size, primary color, construction, material and location, he said. All the rugs we have in our inventory are in the data base, and the search function is compatible with every type of browser. And once a customer has registered, product photos can be easily e-mailed back and forth.
Julie Messner, vice president of leasing for International Market Centers, said Art Resources decision to roll out its new division in High Point reflects the markets track record in attracting the nations top retailers: When a producer or importer is looking to introduce a new line and expand its customer base, High Point is the premier place to show.
