Home Furnishings Business Looks for Great Retail Stories

By Home Furnishings Business in Furniture Retailing on September 13, 2010

The October issue of Home Furnishings Business is our Annual Retail Look Book that features great ideas and retail strategies from home furnishings retailers.

The editors are currently collecting stories and pictures about retailers that show off great retail strategies. If your store does and exceptional job in merchandising, we want to hear about it. If your store has an amazing advertising strategy, we want to hear about it. If your store is exceptional in human resources, we want to know. If your team does an amazing amount of custom orders, we want to know. Anything you would post in your company's brag book, we want to hear about it.

If you're an industry vendor and know of a retailer that should participate, forward along this information and encourage them to participate.

Here's a look at the stories we highlighted in last year's Look Book.

And, it's easy to participate. Simply e-mail us a short write up on what makes your retail operation exceptional, attach three or four high-resolution pictures and hit the send button by Wednesday, Sept. 15. If we have questions, we'll follow up.

Send those e-mails to Sheila Long O'Mara and Powell Slaughter.

Spring Air Inks Agreement with China's Largest Mattress Producer, Retailer

By Home Furnishings Business in Bedding on September 13, 2010 Bedding vendor Spring Air International has signed a license agreement with Suibao Furniture Group€”one of China€™s largest mattress producers and retailers€”and recently named the country€™s €œTop Brand€ and €œMost Valuable Mattress Brand€ by the Chinese government.

Founded in 1972 and headquartered in eastern Guangzhou, Suibao Group has manufacturing facilities in Shanghai, Tianjing and Hebei in addition to Guangzhou, and operates 1,300 retail outlets in the eastern half of China.

€œThis is one of the most meaningful international partnerships we have ever formed,€ said Eric Spitzer, senior vice president of Spring Air. €œThe Suibao Group is not only a major force in China in terms of its size, reach, brand power and technological strength, but it€™s also the first bedding manufacturer in China to introduce and distribute to its own base of mattress stores.€

Spitzer said the Suibao Group will leverage its significant resources in  manufacturing quality and efficiency to make and sell a full line of Spring Air products to its growing base of retail outlets.

€œWe will continue to expand our brand globally, ensuring full participation from our international partners in proliferating the Spring Air name and branded products throughout their countries or regions of distribution,€ he said.

€œOur relationship with Spring Air will bring to Chinese  customers a new collection of innovative, quality mattress products from a well recognized and respected U.S. brand," said Madam Deng Zhi, Suibao Group CEO and chairwoman. €œWe€™re very excited to become a member of the Spring Air International family,€ she said.  €œIt€™s a milestone in our development.€

The nearly 40-year-old Suibao Group rose to prominence in China in the 1990s when the company took a leading role in adopting state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment and technologies, expanded its production facilities and introduced its mattress concept stores.

Spring Air is now located in 33 countries.
