Zuo Opens Florida Showroom

By Home Furnishings Business in Business Strategy on March 7, 2011 Contemporary furniture supplier Zuo Modern has opened a 4,500-square-foot showroom in Miami.

The new space allows the company to showcase its latest and top-selling items.

Designed by Will Ambroson, the company's new visual merchandising director, the space will serve as a sales and development space for the company's East Coast sales network.

The showroom is managed by Erika Torres, facility operations manager.


Paul Brayton Creates New Company

By Home Furnishings Business in on March 7, 2011 Paul Brayton, founder of Brayton International, has started a new company that will supply high-end European and U.S. furniture designs for contract and hospitality arenas.

The new company, Paul Brayton Designs Furniture expects to provide 100 jobs within the first year of operation. The furniture will be manufactured exclusively in the High Point area, utilizing eco-friendly processes.

Brayton has a lengthy 40-year career in the business. Brayton International was later purchased by Steelcase and Brayton was named president and CEO of Steelcase Design Partnership in 1991 where he oversaw the companies Steelcase had purchased. After the acquisition, Brayton International was renamed Coalesse.

Paul Brayton Designs Furniture Collection will make its debut at NeoCon in Chicago, June 13-15.

Market Square Sets April Education, Social Events

Market Square & Suites has announced its educational and social events for High Point Furniture Market, April 2-7.

The new Antique & Design Center on Market Square's Ground and Mezzanine levels will host a series of complimentary seminars in Market Square Space M1 on the Mezzanine Level.

The Antique & Design Center Lecture Series kicks off with VandM.com's "Yearbook 2010-2011: Trend Forecast For The Antique and Home Decor Industry" on Monday, April 4, 2-3 p.m.; presented by Bill Indursky, co-founder of high-end antique, home furnishings, art, and jewelry shopping site VandM.com.

Tuesday will feature four educational sessions, starting at 10:30-11:45 a.m., when antique dealer and designer Charles Hanlon of Mayfair Antiques will present "Classic Elements of Modern Design."

Shayne Hart, principal of Guild Inc., will present "From Business to Brand: How to go from unlocking the doors to unlocking your potential," 2-3:15 p.m.

At 3:30-4:45 p.m., antiques dealer, appraiser and authenticator David Lindquist of Whitehall Antiques will present "Antique Furniture--What to Know Before You Buy."

Also at 3:30-4:45 p.m., Barbara Segal, founder of Interior Designer Chat will present "The Value of Social Media in Today's Design World."

The social line-up kicks off with the Antique & Design Center's opening night gala, Thursday, March 31, 5-8 p.m., ground floor of Market Square.

Market Square Courtyard's "Kick-Off" party will feature live music, food, beer and wine, Saturday, April 2, 7-9 p.m., Market Square Courtyard.

Courtyard Blast-to-the-Past will feature music from the '60's, food, beer and wine, Sunday, April 3, 7-9 p.m., Market Square Courtyard.
 
Eastern Accents and Elle Decor magazine will host the Eastern Accents Barclay Butera Lifestyle Launch Party, Monday, April 4, 6-8 p.m., SAMS G-1000.
 
Linwood Furniture & Market Square present "A Celebration of North Carolina Artisans" featuring North Carolina artisan wines, moonshine, smoked whole pig and BBQ chicken, North Carolina music and storytelling, Monday, April 4, 7-9 p.m., Market Square Courtyard.

Barbara Segal of Interior Design Chat will host "Designer Tweet-Up,"  Tuesday, April 5, 5-6 p.m., featuring refreshments and networking with all tweeters in town for High Point Market. Hashtag is #IntDesignerChat, and Twitter handle is @IntDesignerChat. Interior Designer Chat also has a LinkedIn Group for professional participants of its weekly Interior Designer Chat, and a facebook fanpage.

Market Square's "Spring Fling" Courtyard Party will feature live music, food, beer and wine, 7-9 p.m., Market Square Courtyard.
 
Market Square's Courtyard Cookout will include live entertainment, Wednesday, April 6, 7-9 p.m., Market Square Courtyard.

In addition, daily afternoon receptions with complimentary beer, wine and specialty drinks are set for April 2-6, 4:30-6:30 p.m., Suites at Market Square, SALON and Market Square.

IKEA Canada Taps Leo Burnett as Creative Agency of Record
