Home Trends and Design Has New High Point Showroom

Eco-friendly case goods furniture vendor Home Trends and Design has a new High Point Furniture Market showroom, Market Square 204.

The company specializes in the design and manufacturing of solid mango furniture in the categories of dining, occasional, bedroom and accent furniture, and other old reclaimed woods with iron and steel that has the soft industrial loft appeal.

"The authentic feel of Market Square, with the old hardwood floors, original brick walls and wooden pillars and beams has an unparalleled look and feel," said Hank Cravey, president Of Home Trends and Design. "This environment will enhance the hand made look and feel of our product. Our new showroom is also much larger, which we needed in order to show all of our new product offerings this market."
 
In High Point, the company will add new SKUs to its new Casablanca and Florence collections, which debuted at the recent Las Vegas Furniture Market.
 
"Home Trends and Design will be a wonderful addition to the Market Square complex," said Brian Bunch of MMPI. "Their product offerings fit perfectly with the other higher-end specialty lines in the building."
 
Based in Austin Texas, HTD has a leading specialist in designing and manufacturing solid Mango furniture, a renewable resource. Home Trends and Design is a member of the American Society of Furniture Designers and a founding member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council.

Neil Freidman Wins IHFRA's Steltemeir Award

Neil Freidman has won the International Home Furnishings Representatives Association Rudy Steltemeir Award.

Friedman, of the HFRG of Southern California Chapter, received the award in recognition his exceeding the "call of duty" as an IHFRA member and sales representative. He will recieve the Rudy Steltemeir Award at the 77th annual Presidential Gala on the eve of High Point Furniture Market.

Friedman, a 46-year furniture industry veteran, started his career in 1965 working for Sanitary Mattress Company. In 1972 he and his partner started Loving Care Mattress, which was purchased in 1995 by Schubert Industries. For the next several years Friedman worked as a consultant in the mattress industry before becoming general manager for Eastman House d/b/a Aireloom Bedding in 2002. He helped facilitate the sale of Aireloom to Earl Kluft, former owner of Spring Air California. Presently, he works as West Coast manager of Primo International.

He has shown repeatedly that he posses the qualities of outstanding service in the industry to both his fellow representatives and retailers. He is a mentor to fellow reps who are just starting out in the industry as well as those that may need a little coaching from time to time. 

Friedman also gives his time and talent to plan and execute Executive Networking breakfast meetings in the Valley. He has been on the HFRG of Southern Californiaís Board of Directors for the last ten years, helping to shape and grow the IHFRA Chapter. He has served in various offices within the Chapter including that of president. He is co-chair on the West Coast City of Hope golf committee, active in his temple, and always there to help when asked.

The "Rudy" Award honors the IHFRA member who has demonstrated the qualities of outstanding service to fellow representatives as exemplified by Rudy Steltemeir. Steltemeir was a beloved Tennessee sales representative for 66 years who passed way in 1993 at the age of 92.

Brunschwig & Fils Acquired by Kravet Inc.

Kravet Inc. has outbid Sovereign Partners to acquire fabric supplier Brunschwig & Fils, pending bankrupcty court approval and closing on the sale.

Kravet, a fabric and furnishings supplier based in Bethpage, N.Y., is expected to commence operating the Brunschwig & Fils business by the end of March 2011.

Brunschwig & Fils filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this year, and during the Chapter 11 transition, Kravet provided $4 million in post-bankruptcy financing to the company to ensure Brunschwig & Fils would be a financially sound trading partner during the bankruptcy period.

Brunschwig & Fils is based in White Plains, N.Y., and has showrooms in 21 cities with a Design Studio in the New York D&D Building. Brunschwig has international distribution in 24 countries.

NHFA New England Chapter Sets Charity Golf Tourney

The New England Chapter of the National Home Furnishings Association will host a golf tourney benefiting The Home for Little Wanderers on June 14.

The fourth annual golf tournament will take place at the Blackstone National Golf Club in Sutton, Mass.

"The New England Chapter is very pleased to support The Home," said New England Chapter President Joe Quintal of Rotmans Furniture in Worcester, Mass. "I invite New Englanders to come out and support this very worthwhile organization while playing some golf and relaxing with friends old and new."

With roots dating back to 1799, The Home for Little Wanderers is the nation's oldest and one of New England's largest non-profit child and family service agencies. Its services include early childhood, adoption, foster care, clinical and family support, residential care, special education, independent living, and case management.

Brownwood Owner gets 10 Months for Illegal Hiring
