All-Industry Conference Gaining Steam

Sixty furniture retail operations have registered so far for the 2011 Home Furnishings Industry Conference, April 30-May 2.

The event, sponsored by the Western Home Furnishings Association(https://netforum.avectra.com/eWeb/StartPage.aspx?Site=WHFA) and the National Home Furnishings Association(http://nhfa.org/), along with affiliates and partners, is set for the Westin Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas.

"One of the greatest parts of the Home Furnishings Industry Conference is that it has been created for everyone--large and small retailers alike," said WHFA Executive Director Sharron Bradley. TemaHome to Show in High Point

IHFRA Honors Ray Isser

The International Home Furnishings Representatives Association will present former President Ray Isser with the Harold P. Braun Distinguished Service Award.

The award, IHFRA's highest honor, will be presented at the 17th annual Furniture Industry Awards Gala during next month's High Point Furniture Market.

The Harold P. Braun DSA was founded in 1975 and has gone annually to a deserving representative who embodies certain qualities and character and has distinguished him or herself on behalf of IHFRA, sales representatives, the industry, and has enhanced the image of home furnishings sales representatives in the community and the industry.

Ray Isser joined the Tri-State Chapter of IHFRA in 1978 and has has every office possible in the chapter, including president (1996-1998) and chairman of the board (1998-2000).

Becoming more involved with IHFRA on a national level, Isser "went through the chairs" and became IHFRA's 68th President in 2006. He completed his educational course requirements to become a CHR in 2003.
 
Isser has participated in all the Marches on Washington and promoted and represented IHFRA at many industry gatherings. He has been an example to follow for the newer and younger representatives coming into the industry and organization.

A graduate of Columbia University, Isser has more than 30 years of experience as a sales representative, representing lines such as Wicker and Cane, King Koil, AICO, Chromcraft, Blackhawk, Stratford/Stratalounger, SLF, Homelegance, SEI, Luke Leather and Barcalounger.

Isser received the Rudy Steltemeir Award in 2010 and was recently inducted into the Tri-State Home Furnishings Association's Hall of Fame.

The Furniture Industry Awards Gala will be held on Monday, April 4, in the IHFC Ballroom on the 11th Floor of the Green Wing. The International Home Furnishings Representatives Association and National Home Furnishings Association sponsor the event.
