Lazar Offers Ultrasuede Market Deal

By Home Furnishings Business in Las Vegas on January 26, 2012 Contemporary upholstery producer Lazar Inds. will be offering retailers a 20 percent discount on orders specifying Ultrasuede covers placed during next week's Las Vegas Market.

Upholstery specialist Lazar Industries announces a special dealer incentive kicking off this week€™s home furnishings tradeshow in space B-612, Las Vegas World Market Center€”all orders specifying branded Ultrasuede® covers will be available at a 20 percent discount.

The promotion draws attention to Lazar€™s recommitment to one of its best-selling upholstery cover options, focusing on higher profit margin opportunities for the U.S. based-furniture manufacturer€™s customers.

€œThe retail community is eager to diversify their product mix to capture design-savvy and value-based consumers, and Ultrasuede is a proven winner for this audience,€ says Rob Luce, president and CEO of Lazar Inds. €œWe are pleased to reintroduce one of the most productive relationships in our history with this special offer.€

From the company€™s start in the early 1980s, Lazar was a top resource for home furnishings dealers offering Ultrasuede as a custom option on upholstered seating products. €œLow pricing pressures from within the industry made it difficult to sell over the last several years,€ Luce said. €œBut we€™re done with cheap microfiber imitations that end up costing all of us more in the long run with quality issues and low margins.€

The high-performance cover delivers a host of consumer benefits, including durability, easy care and cleaning, and a rich palette of 97 in-stock colors to choose from. In 2009, parent company Toray Industries re-engineered Ultrasuede with its proprietary EcoDesign manufacturing process, reducing both energy consumption and carbon emissions by more than 80 percent. Recycled Ultrasuede is additionally featured in Lazar€™s EarthDesigns collection of furniture.

The Ultrasuede incentive from Lazar will be available to dealers through June 30, and retail buyers should contact their Lazar representative for details.

Next Generation-NOW Launching Social Site

By Home Furnishings Business in Social Media on January 26, 2012

The Next Generation-NOW furniture network group will launch a new social site at next week's Las Vegas Furniture Market.

The new site lets members create their own profile, share information, create events, add photos and videos, create and share blogs, participate in forum discussion, connect, network, learn and share about furniture news, and more. Members also can connect their profile to their Facebook page, Twitter account, and Google accounts.

"We took what our generation is all about and brought it into one single focused place," said Kevin Doran, vice-chair of the Next Generation-NOW committee. "We took everything great about Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIN, and YouTube and centered that around building connections and networking around the furniture industry."

To join the Next Generation-NOW Social Site, click here.

In addition, NextGen Now's Market "Chatter Over Cocktails" cocktail party, 5-6 p.m. Tuesday at the One-Six Club on the 16th Floor of Building B, will feature "Speed Networking" during the first 20 minutes. All attendees will have a chance to meet new faces during two rounds of Speed Networking. Afterwards, attendees continue to mingle and share stories over cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.

"Market is about exploration and discovery, new colors, patterns, styles and innovations," said Nick Gates of Gates Furniture, and Next Generation-NOW committee chair. "But none of these are what makes any one market stand out amongst the rest. The most important aspect of market, to our industry, is relationships. The building of friendships and partnerships, networking, sharing ideas, and learning are what keep me coming back. This is the chance to get excited about our industry. To share an excitement with others who actually want to talk about furniture; who understand the headaches and triumphs of the business. That is why relationships in this business are vital no matter if you are a 30-year veteran or just getting your toes wet."

RSVP for the Next Generation-NOW event by visiting the group€™s Facebook Page.

FurnitureDealer.net
and Western Home Furnishings Association are the key sponsors for Next Generation-NOW.
