Robert Allen Names VP Marketing

The Robert Allen Design Group has named Robert Nachman vice president of marketing.

Nachman comes to his position with more than 20 years of experience building brands across the home furnishings and fashion industries. He leads the advancement of the Beacon Hill, Robert Allen, Robert Allen Contract and Robert Allen@home brands.

"Robert will play a critical role in leading the brand experience for our design clientele," said Phil Kowalczyk, CEO of Robert Allen Design Group. "His unique background in luxury consumer products and fine home furnishings brands will elevate both our branding and digital leadership. We are excited to have him as part of our team."

Nachman has held positions with a number of design and lifestyle companies including HearstBloomingdale'sSteuben, and most recently the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum where he was charged with redirecting retail operations during the museum's $65 million renovation. In his new position, he will oversee the marketing team and lead its various digital, consumer, and advertising initiatives.

"Robert possesses that special combination of innate design sensibility and business savvy that makes him an exceptional addition to our marketing team," said Jennie Wilde, senior vice president of design and marketing for the company. "We are looking forward to the value and impact he will bring."

Haverty Furniture Q4 Net Income Down

Home furnishings retailer Haverty Furniture Cos. has reported a net income of $6.8 million for the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, compared to $16.96 million for the same quarter ended December 31, 2011.

Net sales for the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31 were $182.31 million, compared to $168.26 million for the same quarter ended Dec. 31, 2011.

Marriott, Ikea Join for European Hotel Chain

Hotel chain Marriott plans to unveil today its designs for Moxy, a European budget hotel brand it is developing with a subsidiary of Inter Ikea Group, the parent company of Ikea.

Marriott International said it will debut the venture at the International Hotel Investement Forum in Berlin today.

Salaries for Stanley Execs Hold Steady

 Stanley Furniture Co. Inc. said in a regulatory filing Monday that its top two executives did not receive a raise in salary in 2012.

Glenn Prillaman, president and chief executive, received $320,004 in salary for the third consecutive year. He did not receive a bonus after getting an $88,000 bonus in 2011. Total compensation was $799,200, up 20 percent from 2011. He received restricted stock and option awards valued at $471,696 on the dates they were granted.
