By Home Furnishings Business in Social Media on March 6, 2013

High Point Furniture Market (@hpmarketnews) and online community Decor Mentor (@decormentor) will preview new products at the April 20-25 show with a Twitter Chat.

The global chat is set for 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 20. High Point Market exhibitors are invited to submit photos of their new April introductions to editorial@highpointmarket.org by 5 p.m. (EST), Thursday, March 14. Submissions are limited to two photos per company.

The Decor Mentor "ambassadors" will curate a collection of their top picks on Twitter at 6 p.m. on March 20, using the official High Point Market hashtag #hpmkt. The ambassadors will also discuss new trends, Market tips, and events.

All product photos submitted for the chat will be featured on a Sneak Peek pinboard on the High Point Furniture Market€™s Pinterest page. The Decor Mentor curated selections will also be posted to a Pinterest board. A link to all of the Pinterest boards will be posted on Twitter throughout the chat.

€œWe had an amazing number of people log in to our last two Twitter chats,€ said High Point Market Authority Vice President of Marketing Cheminne Taylor-Smith. €œIn fact, we had such an overwhelming response last Fall that we almost took down Twitter. This is a fast-paced event, and the addition of the Pinterest boards allows people to take more time with each of the product photos. This is one of the earliest, and most exciting ways, to see the newest trends and products before the April Market.€

The Twitter chat is open to everyone on Twitter, and will offer inside information and special previews for the April High Point Market.

Dormeo Octaspring Names Megard VP

By Home Furnishings Business in Executive Changes on March 6, 2013

Bedding vendor Dormeo Octaspring has named 20-year industry veteran Chad Megard vice president of sales for the central region of the United States.

Megard joins Joe Hunt and Steve Dohm as a national sales team leader, reporting to Dormeo Octaspring President Chris Henning.

Prior to joining Dormeo Octaspring, Megard was senior vice president of sales and business development at Comfort Solutions, where he was responsible for sales management, direct sales, new business development and strategic marketing. He successfully opened up $30 million in new accounts over an 18-month period. Before that, he served as vice president of sales for Spring Air and led both regional and national sales teams to exceed profit and sales goals. In 2001, Megard was vice president of national accounts at Serta. His first position in the industry was with Sealy, where he was a key account manager for nine years.

€œChad is an outstanding leader in our industry with strong, established relationships throughout the country. We have assembled a true all-star team of executives that can provide strategic sales and merchandising insight for our customers," Henning said. "Dormeo Octaspring provides more than just traditional sales support; seasoned professionals like Steve, Joe and Chad also provide tactical expertise around the implementation and synergies of our multi-channel marketing platform. This ultimately helps our customers drive incremental sales and generate higher margins.€

For more than 10 years, Dormeo had been a leading mattress brand in Europe and Asia before making its North American debut as Dormeo Octaspring, when it introduced its patented Octaspring to the U.S. market.
