Dorel 4Q Revenue Climbs 11%

The profit was of $29.1 million, an improvement of 6.4 percent compared to the previous year. 

In total, 2012, revenues increased by 5.3 percent to $2.5 billion, with profits of $108.6 million, representing an increase of 4 percent compared to 2011. The results were driven by cost cutting.

Beatles Cartoonist at Jordan's Furniture

Australian cartoonist Ron Campbell treated producing the Beatles cartoons as a big professional opportunity. More a lover of Mozart and Beethoven at the time, he was certainly not swept up in Beatlemania just yet and considered popular music at the time to be "blah!" and a "horror."

"I was excited; I was young and had a lot of responsibility," Campbell said. "I was proud I was given the responsibility of having 40 to 50 people working for you. You feel a little like Alexander the Great on a small scale. Except, I mean, we weren't killing anybody."

Profile: Furniture Row's Kurt Busch

His reputation as NASCAR's bad boy wasn't holding up on this morning in late January, as Kurt Busch served as the perfect host.

He walked throughout the Furniture Row Racing facility, pointing out the car he would drive in the Daytona 500, the chassis that recently arrived from Richard Childress Racing, the rounded rear bumpers on the new NASCAR-mandated Gen-6 cars.

The Las Vegan seemed especially proud of the facility, located in an industrial area near the old Stapleton International Airport, and of the new beginning it represents.

Bassett Furniture Optimistic about Future

Bassett Furniture's fortunes improved in 2012, and the company is optimistic about its prospects for the future, its president/CEO said Wednesday.

Robert H. "Rob" Spilman Jr. told shareholders at Bassett's annual meeting that the company is predicting 5 to 10 percent revenue growth this year.

Pier 1 4Q Revenue Beats Analysts' Estimates

Fort Worth, Texas-based Pier 1 Imports' fiscal fourth-quarter revenue topped Wall Street's view but the home decor company provided a forecast for adjusted earnings that was slightly below analysts' estimates.

Pier 1 Imports Inc. said Thursday that its revenue climbed 16 percent to $552 million for the period ended March 2. Analysts polled by FactSet expected revenue of $547 million.
