Spring Air International, a Top 20 U.S. bedding manufacturer and widely known consumer brand, said that its long-time Chairman and CEO Eddie Bates, 75, died on Sunday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he was living.

Kevin Toman, who died Dec. 4 at 77, is remembered as a well-liked mattress leader who worked with top executives in the industry over a 46-year career and won their respect. “It would be hard to find anyone in the mattress industry who didn’t have a good word to say about Kevin,” said Gerry Borreggine, Therapedic’s long-time CEO and president, who knew him for more than two decades.

 It is with great sadness that the family of Walter Edward Smithe, Jr., announces his passing. Walter was the patriarch of the extended Smithe family and the founder of Walter E. Smithe Furniture & Design. He died peacefully with his beloved wife of 64 years, Florence Flynn Smithe, by his side. Many family members from far and near gathered close during his final days, cherishing the memories of time spent with Papa during the 86 years of his extraordinary life.
