The New Jersey Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) has successfully reinvented its annual trade show, now titled a Design Expo. This year’s event on Oct 8 at Bell Works featured a DJ, a panel with LuAnn Nigara of A Well-Designed Business® and Designer and HGTV host Noel Gatts on how to attract the luxury client, a raffle and a CEU on global design trends by Sub-Zero, Wolf and Cove. The lively, interactive event drew crowds of designers and dozens of exhibitors encompassing the breadth of the design trade.

A new HomeGoods survey uncovered that 74% of holiday decorators say that they associate holiday decorating with joy, but more than half feel decorating before Thanksgiving comes with some level of judgment. In fact, 60% of holiday decorators have received some type of remark about the timing of their holiday décor. HomeGoods believes in the joy that decorating early for the holidays brings, so they created Deck the Everything Day, an annual holiday on Nov. 1, to celebrate early decorators and give them a reason to embrace their love of the season.

The exhibition 100 IKEA objects we would have liked to have had in VINÇON opened this week at Disseny Hub Barcelona (DHUB) and will be running until 23 February 2025. Curated by the architect and designer Juli Capella, the exhibition pays tribute to the emblematic Barcelona shop VINÇON and is based on an original idea by Fernando Amat, who has selected 100 IKEA products that he would have liked to incorporate into his shop.

Eight design-forward furniture and home décor products from 40 finalists have been named ANDMORE’s Market Snapshot “People’s Choice” Award winners for the Fall 2024 edition of High Point Market. The winners – Chelsea House; Classic Home; DANAO; Fairfield Chair; HiEnd Accents; Indigo Road x Jeffan; Neos Co; and Varnish Collection – will have their products displayed alongside additional finalists in an at-market vignette, running October 26-30, 2024.

Following a Summer 2024 reorganization for comprehensive sourcing, the nation’s largest collection of gift and home temporaries make a Winter debut at Atlanta Market with 1,400+ brands across seven newly tailored categories. To date, 50+ brands will debut at the southeast buying hub, with temporary exhibits running Jan 15 – 19, at AmericasMart Atlanta.

Leggett & Platt President and CEO Karl Glassman commented, "We continued to make solid progress on our restructuring and operating efficiency improvement initiatives, although demand headwinds were more challenging than anticipated in the third quarter. Despite weaker than expected results, we paid down $124 million of debt and adjusted EBIT margin improved by 60 basis points sequentially this quarter.
