Art Van Furniture Brings Back Charity Challenge

Art Van Furniture has announced the return of its Million Dollar Charity Challenge for 2011.

The program awards grants from $5,000 to $50,000 to support Michigan-based children, health and human services programs with a fun filled evening full of food and entertainment.

The event is set for Tuesday, June 14, 6-9 p.m., at Art Van's location at 8748 W. Saginaw Hwy., Lansing, Mich.

Speakers at festivities will include Art Van Elslander, founder and chairman of Warren, Mich.-based Art Van Furniture; Kim Yost, CEO; and Gary Van Elslander, president, along with representatives from previous 100 Art Van Charity Challenge recipients.

In addition, Art Van will debut the Art Van Hope Awards paying tribute to four individuals for their devotion and unwavering commitment to the state of Michigan. Those include Laurie Baumer, Ele's Place; Krista Mason, Benjamin's Hope; L. Brooks Patterson, Rainbow Connection; and Maggie Varney, Wigs 4 Kids.

Art Van Furniture will begin accepting applications for 2011-2012 MDCC grants until August 1, 2011. Visit artvan.com for details on qualifications and directions on grant submission.

50 Non-profit organizations will be awarded grants in September.
