Peoria Ashley Furniture Homestore is "Viewers' Choice"

By Home Furnishings Business in Furniture Retailing on June 7, 2011

Ashley Furniture Homestore in Peoria, Ill., has won "Viewers' Choice" award as a favorite furniture store in Central Illinois.

Granite Broadcasting, a television station group for the Peoria-Bloomington market, ran an extensive promotional campaign on all five of its stations in January inviting viewers to visit CentralIllinoisNewsCenter.com to nominate their favorite businesses in a variety of business categories. Viewers were encouraged to name those local establishments that have provided great service, competitive pricing and an all around excellent customer experience. Hundreds of nominations were received from throughout the 10 county region stretching across central Illinois.

In February, the nominees were posted and the voting phase began. After thousands of votes were received, and the voting phase concluded at the end of February, the top three vote getters have been recognized in each category as the Viewers' Choice winners.

Mike Bruegge opened the Peoria Ashley store in November of 2010. Ashley Furniture HomeStore of Champaign has been locally owned and operated by the Bruegge family since 2006. In November of 2010 the Bruegges took their HomeStores to Peoria, and they opened their second store in the Northpoint Shopping Center. The Bruegges operate one of the oldest family-run furniture companies in Central Illinois, serving the community since 1872.

Latex Int'l Promotes Eisenberg, Siragusa

By Home Furnishings Business in Executive Changes on June 6, 2011

Mattress and pillow manufacturer Latex International has promoted Tomas Eisenberg and James Siragusa to vice president.

Eisenberg takes leadership of Shelton, Conn.-based Latex International's marketing and branding as vice president of strategic marketing; and Siragusa is vice president of sales for global sales efforts.

Eisenberg joined Latex International in January 2002, first heading the pillow sales division and then assuming a number of senior sales positions at Latex International beginning in 2009. He had a decade of senior sales management experience in the consumer products sector prior to joining the company. Under his leadership, pillow sales increased by more than 25 percent and its international mattress business doubled.

In addition to developing both the international and domestic distribution channels, Eisenberg has been instrumental in designing and building the company's direct-to-retail branded pillow programs and contract manufacturing for licensed products in this newly created position, Eisenberg will spearhead Latex International€™s new corporate branding and marketing initiative, which the company expects to unveil later this year.

Siragusa returned to Latex International earlier this year to assume responsibility for international sales. He first joined the company in 1998 as director of business development, and was then promoted managing director of international growth in 2004. He also is credited with designing and executing direct-to-retail programs globally, including the United States. He left the company in 2009 to start an international business consulting practice.

Before joining Latex International, Siragusa held senior sales positions at Sealy, Simmons and Premier Bedding Group. Earlier in his career, he was a buyer for Gimbel's, Macy's and Dillard's.

"Today we are recognizing two of our most seasoned executives and giving them both expanded responsibilities that are critical to the mission of our company," said Latex International President and CEO Dave Fisher. "They will each play an important role as we evolve from a company that simply manufactured latex cores and toppers, into the leading brand in the hottest growth sector €“latex€”in the sleep products space."
