Rooms To Go Introduces Panama Jack Collection

By Home Furnishings Business in Case Goods on June 14, 2011 Rooms To Go has partnered with the sun care products and apparel company Panama Jack to introduce the Panama Jack Home collection.

The collection features two different looks€”Old Havana and Eco Jack.

Old Havana, as the name implies, draws inspiration from the architecture of Havana and English antiques that craftsmen recreated in the Caribbean. The collection features a four-poster bed with reeded posts. Beds in the group retail at $899, and a dining table and four chairs retail at $1,099.

Eco Jack has a more youthful design and attitude. Pieces in the line are made from acacia, a renewable plantation wood native to warmer climates. The slat and raised-panel construction gives the line a modern feel.  Eco Jack's bedroom collection features an arched platform bed and sliding-door chest with a pull-out rod for hanging clothes. A curio cabinet has storage room for stemware, wine bottles and a refrigerated wine cooler.  A steamer trunk bar with its fold-out bar top and slatted shelves is versatile and can multi-task as a bar, dining area or work space. Beds in this group retail at $599, and a table and four chairs will retail at $799.

"Value, quality, ease and comfort-that was our mantra in designing and crafting our new collections," said Stephen Giles, designer of the Panama Jack Home collection.  "Both Old Havana and Eco Jack share the brand's style but each has its own very distinct personality."

Old Havana will debut this month in Rooms To Go stores, and Eco Jack will be in stores later this summer.

"We are very excited about launching Panama Jack's new Home Collection with industry leader Rooms To Go," said Kim Manna, president of Panama Jack. "For years, we have been helping people live the Panama Jack lifestyle. Now they can enjoy Panama Jack's trademark style of fun, adventure and escape in their homes."

But one retail sector is quite used to seeing sales decline, even as they have begun to grow in other industries. Furniture and home furnishing sales fell much farther than broader retail sales and have yet to meaningfully recover. Their path has been a brutal one. Here's a chart showing furniture and home furnishing sales (red line) versus total retail and food services sales (green line): Furniture and home furnishing sales peaked in January 2007

By Aggregated Content in Furniture Retailing on June 13, 2011 from http://c.moreover.com/click/here.pl?z4836825562&z=1250249027 Michael Baty isn't a big-game hunter, but his business keeps Germantown supplied with all the comforts of home -- including the occasional moose head. Chestnut Hall Furniture, which Baty co-owns with his sister, Karen Rice, is among the small number of businesses that managed to turn a recession year into a banner year. "2010 was a record year for us," said Baty, who opened Chestnut Hall 22 years ago. "We've attracted a number of new customers who have not shopped here before." The siblings first worked in their parents' furniture store as children before Michael became a CPA and

A-Z Affordable Furniture Store Closing

By Aggregated Content in Furniture Retailing on June 13, 2011 from http://c.moreover.com/click/here.pl?z4839244614&z=1250249027 After 31 years, owners Miles and Diane Grischke are ready to retire. It seems that six-day weeks with no vacations (except for the occasional weekend visit to Florida to visit parents) have taken their toll on the Grischkes. The economy was another contributing factor in the decision to go out of business because not as many people are buying furniture.
