Jonathan Adler has always had a big Washington following for his mod-meets-traditional home-furnishings line. So on May 22, when the New York designer plans to open a signature shop in Georgetown, hes going to stock plenty of hot-pink wool throws, stoneware horses and acid-yellow needlepoint pillows. A lot of my references have a sort of updated take on the WASP-y country-club style that is very Georgetown, says Adler, who started his design life as a potter.

By Home Furnishings Business in High Point on March 20, 2012
High Point Market exhibitors can take advantage of a new press kit service created by two public relations professionals that takes some of the pain out of getting ready for markets.
Voila, an online service, allows exhibitors to order press kits, download product images, and pay with a credit card for a seamless service that includes delivery of press kits to the
High Point Market Media Center.
As specialists in marketing communications for the home furnishings industry, Leslie Newby and Carla Mata-Sprinkles designed the new service with a focus on ease, convenience, and affordability to give exhibitors and their products better access to journalists and reporters for editorial consideration and earned media placements.
According to Newby, who owns
Brand Communications, Inc., only a fraction of tradeshow exhibitors produce press kits, while the majority are missing out on unique opportunities to reach a targeted audience.
"Editorial coverage is a very powerful tool, and for many exhibitors it's an overlooked low-cost communications vehicle," Newby said "A well-placed article, product feature, or broadcast clip can result in increased buyer interest, greater showroom traffic, and a boost in sales. The press kit can be the starting point for all of that."
Each Voila press kit is designed to meet accepted standards for presenting information and images to the editorial community.
"When preparing for markets, an exhibitor's schedule for manufacturing production and showroom set-up is typically the biggest impediment to getting press kits done," said Mata-Sprinkles, who is also the principal of
Creative Communication Services. "Instead of fighting that timeline, we devised a way to work with it, giving everyone the chance to order kits almost up to the last minute."
To meet the High Point Market Media Center deadline for press kit delivery this spring, Voila will accept online orders for basic press kits until Wednesday, April, 18th at noon, pending capacity. Exhibitors are encouraged to place orders as soon as possible to meet deadlines. Press kits intended for use after the market may be ordered at any time.
Exhibitors can register at the Web site to place orders and to learn more about pricing and optional services like in-showroom product photography, or they may contact help@voilapresskits.com.
