Brown Jordan Frinier Group Wins Design Award

"Elements" from the Richard Frinier Collection for Brown Jordan won a best of show award at May's Hospitality Design Expo and convention in Las Vegas.

Elements won in the Group/Series Seating Outdoor category. The awards are selected by the International Interior Design Association in partnership with Hospitality Design magazine.

Since Richard Frinier returned to collaborate with Brown Jordan, they have created six new collections together garnering four design awards, including three design awards over two consecutive years from the IIDA/HD Product Design Competition for their designs:  Elements,  Cloud Nine and Still.

"I am honored and humbled to have these designs recognized by IIDA and HD," Frinier said. "This means we have listened to our following and there is no higher accolade for a designer than to have people make an emotional connection with their designs." Adding, "Brown Jordan did a remarkable job in the execution of these designs, so I am grateful for this collaboration, our successes together and this latest recognition."

Edenvale, Litle & Co. Team for Payment Processing

RoomStore studying options, including sale of chain or closing stores

Golf, Tennis Tournament Nets $710K for City of Hope

The National Home Furnishings Industry's 21st annual West Coast Golf and Tennis tournament held earlier this week brought in $710,000 for the City of Hope research hospital.

The event, held at Coto de Caza Golf and Racquet Club in Coto de Caza, Calif., honored the Levitz family and its 100-plus-year legacy in the furniture industry. Sam Levitz, Mike Levitz, Shelley Levitz, Phillip Levitz, Alan Levitz, Danny Selznick and Leon Levitz were honored at the event, which was first held in 1989.

The home furnishings industry has been affiliated with City of Hope for 50 years, and continues to raise money to help the research facility find cures for cancer, diabetes and HIV.

Over the years, the golf tournament has raised more than $6 million.

Rumley Named VP at Hickory Chair

Skip Rumley will join high-end furniture vendor and Furniture Brands International division Hickory Chair as vice president and creative director.

Effective June 18, Rumley will be responsible for leading Hickory Chair€™s product innovation, merchandising and collaborative collections with internal and external partners. Rumley reports to Jay Reardon, president of Hickory Chair. Rumley replaces Ron Fiore, who joined Bernhardt Furniture in May.

Rumley most recently served as vice president of design for Edward Ferrell + Lewis Mittman, where he designed and launched a signature furniture collection in 2012, 3 Beekman by Skip Rumley. Prior to that, he held various positions of increasing responsibility in furniture design and merchandising including creative director for Henredon and gallery designer for Baker Furniture.

Rumley is an accomplished interior designer. He has collaborated with nationally renowned designers and merchandised showrooms both nationally and internationally. His designs have been published in a variety of consumer and trade publications.
