Hooker Makes Back-To-School Social

Hooker Furniture is using social media to engage consumers, retailers and designers in spreading back-to-school ideas for organization, food, apparel and furniture.

Beginning last week through the end of August, Hooker Furniture is inviting participants to €œPin or Post to Win€ a functional swivel chest from its Abby youth collection. Participants in the contest re-pin any of the back-to-school ideas on Hooker€™s Pinterest back-to-school board or post their back to school ideas on the Hooker Furniture Facebook Page. They enter the sweepstakes on the back-to-school contest landing page.

€œThe back-to-school campaign is right in line with our mission to offer ideas, resources and inspiration to enhance people€™s lives and homes through our online community,€ said Kim Shaver, vice president-marketing communications for Hooker Furniture. €œSince we have just recently added Pinterest to our online community, we hope this campaign will increase the engagement on this channel as well as build our followers and fans.€

Hooker Furniture€™s social media community also includes Twitter, a home ideas blog and a You Tube channel.

Thompson Named VividWorks VP of Sales, Marketing

John Thompson has been named vice president of sales and marketing of VividWorks, a Finnish-based software provider for the home furnishings industry.

Thompson, a seven-year industry veteran and former sales manager for Icovia of 20-20 Technologies, will oversee sales and marketing of VividWorks online interior design and visualization software in North America and South America.

"John brings extensive knowledge of online interior design software as it applies to the home furnishings industry and a winning track record," said Jorma Palo, COO and chairman. "We're excited to have someone with Thompson's expertise and first-hand experience oversee our expansion into North and South America."

The company offers its 3D augmented reality, interior design and product visualization software sales tools to furniture manufacturers and retailers across the world, including Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Poland, Italy, Germany and Japan.

Thompson reports to Palo.

Bassett Furniture Declares 5-Cent Dividend

Bassett Furniture Inds. (NASDAQ: BSET) has declared a regular dividend of $.05 per common share.

The dividend is payable Aug. 31 to shareholders of record at the close of business Aug. 15.

Bassett operates 87 company- and licensee-own stores across the U.S.

Brown Jordan Taps Rhiger as VP

Rhiger will develop initiatives in support of the company€™s agenda for new markets, media, branding and emerging products. She will also develop and implement business growth strategies and oversee all Brown Jordan communications in order to strengthen its positioning, messaging and brand development.

Immediately prior to joining Brown Jordan, Rhiger was the Director of Marketing for Janus et Cie, leading all marketing and branding initiatives, as well as all communications for the firm. With extensive experience in both the furniture and fashion industries, Rhiger is recognized for her ability to drive marketing and branding strategies for luxury brands. She brings more than 15 years of experience to Brown Jordan, having held key leadership roles in which she was responsible for brand management, public relations and communications that proved integral to the design-oriented brands€™ accelerated growth and prominence.

Rockford, Ill., Furniture Dealer Closing
