Flippin to Lead Wright International Sales

Pat Flippin has joined Wright Global Graphic Solutions to the newly created position of director of international business development.

In this role, Flippin, an industry veteran, is responsible for creating new business opportunities, increasing sales overseas and strengthening Thomasville, N.C.-based Wright€™s position as a leader in packaging and marketing solutions around the world, specifically in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Flippin is best known for his long tenure at Kingsdown, where he started in 1986 as a regional operations and plant manager. Six years later he was promoted to vice president of sales and is credited with growing sales, opening new territories, and assisting in new product development. Flippin took on the responsibilities of vice president of manufacturing in 1996, which included increasing manufacturing efficiencies and creating an internal customer service department to address quality control.

From 2001 to 2010, Flippin was Kingsdown€™s president and chief operating officer. In this position he played a key role in expanding domestic and international manufacturing, including the opening or expansion of four new U.S. facilities, spearheading sleep research at the Sleep to Live Institute, and developing and implementing high quality standards.

Currently, Flippin works with Global Sourcing Solutions USA, Asia as its president of North/South America operations.  There, he is responsible for all sales, corporate strategies and sourcing for American markets.

Flippin started his home furnishings career in 1980 at Symbol Mattress. During his six years with the company, he held the position of purchasing agent.  He has also held prestigious positions in the mattress industry including the president of the International Sleep Products Association and served for nine years as a member of the board at Kingsdown Inc.

Raymour & Flanigan Donates $25K to Red Cross

Company Chief Executive Officer and President Neil Goldberg and Executive Vice Presidents Michael Goldberg and Steven Goldberg recently presented the check to the American Red Cross Central New York Chapter.

Big Brand Debuts at Las Vegas

By Home Furnishings Business in on December 12, 2012 Christopher Guy, Stanley Furniture, Julian Chichester, Mr. Brown and Norwalk Furniture will open showrooms in Las Vegas Design Center at World Market Center for the Jan. 28-Feb. 1 Las Vegas Furniture Market.

These four new-to-market showrooms encompass more than 26,000 square feet and are located on the first two floors of Building A.

According to Paul Watson, vice president of LVDC, 2013 is shaping up to be a banner year that brings some of the most exciting, innovative and well-respected design names to the 40-plus showroom center that caters to the interior design trade.  

€œLas Vegas Design Center is currently experiencing a renaissance with the enhancement and diversification of its upper end resources to our already strong offering,€ said Watson. €œThese new brands each bring a unique design aesthetic and perspective to LVDC. We are thrilled to welcome each new showroom to LVDC, which is fast earning a reputation as the largest and most comprehensive design center in the west.€ 

These brands join the center€™s existing design stars open year-round, including Robert Allen”‚Beacon Hill, Global Views, Four Hands, Capel Rugs, Palecek, and multi-line showroom LMS Design Group. 

Christopher Guy will open an 8,184 square-foot showroom on the first floor of Building A, A100. Originally known for a wide-range of decorative mirrors, the Christopher Guy brand has grown into a collection of upholstery, chairs, dining tables, sofas, headboards, office furniture and more.

Next door, case goods vendor Stanley Furniture is set to open two new showrooms in A109 and A110 totaling 11,549 square feet, the company€™s first trade showroom expansion west of the Mississippi. The leading designer and manufacturer is known for its creation of wood residential furniture for every room of the home including dining, bedroom, home office and home entertainment.

British manufacturer Julian Chichester will debut a 2,693 square-foot showroom for its Mr. Brown line in A133. Julian Chichester is a world renowned British designer. The Chichester point of view can readily be seen in each and every one of his pieces and is a perfect interpretation of British style with a distinct historical undertone.

Upholstered furniture leader Norwalk Furniture is launching a 4,194 square-foot showroom on the second floor of Building A.  Norwalk Furniture offers classic designs, over 850 fabrics and leathers, and highly customizable offerings all made in the USA.

These four new showrooms will be joined by several other major brands scheduled to open later in 2013.

Sleepy's Helps with Sandy Relief

Sleepy€™s is donating 100 sets of bedding to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, the charitable organization operating in New York for 64 years.
 
€œThis is a fitting partnership as Sleepy€™s provides quality bedding at affordable prices, and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul provides bedding to hundreds of families in need each year,€ said Thomas J. Abbate, executive director of the society of St. Vincent de Paul. €œBoth Sleepy€™s and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul are adamant about supporting the needs of those Long Islanders who are working hard to recover from the recent devastation.€
 
This assistance to those affected by Hurricane Sandy is the most recent donation in Sleepy€™s community relations program €œBedder Days.€ Since May 2011, Sleepy€™s, has consistently donated beds and bedding products to various organizations and individuals in need through the progam.
 
The organization has donated to various other causes including Rebuild Tuscaloosa, the American Red Cross and television makeover shows such as George to the Rescue and Extreme Makeover Home Edition.
 
€œWe were eager to work with the Society of St. Vincent dePaul knowing we could deliver new beds and a measure of comfort to those displaced by the storm,€ says Adam Blank, Sleepy€™s COO. €œSleepy€™s mission is to provide healthy sleep for everyone, but particularly for those affected by a disaster.€

BrandSource Unveils Plans for Winter Summit
