By Home Furnishings Business in Las Vegas on December 7, 2012
Occasional and casual dining furniture vendor Steve Silver Co. has taken a permanent showroom in World Market Center Las Vegas.
Steve Silver will show in a 9,828-square-foot space, A-1016 at the Jan. 28-Feb. 1 Las Vegas Furniture Market. The company had been showing in a temporary space that was about 5,000 square feet in Building C, so the new showroom almost doubles its presence at the Market.
Well be introducing a great deal of new product across all our categories, including home office and leather upholstery, said David Corbin, chief operating officer. Having a stronger presence in Las Vegas will help us expand our business in the West, making us more accessible to retailers in the region.
Founded in 1983, Steve Silver is based in Forney, Texas, where it has a 500,000-square-foot warehouse. The state-of-the-art facility was built in 2000 and expanded three times. It carries a steady inventory of best-selling product for quick shipment of smaller orders, as well as more than 7,000 SKUs of spare parts that can be overnighted to retailers when needed.
The company also offers direct-container service from its source factory.
Our strength is that we offer a tremendous value that is well styled and priced, said Corbin. We also have a very good reputation for quality service.
In June of this year, industry veteran Gil Sturtzel joined Steve Silver as director of merchandising and product development. With Sturtzels assistance, Steve Silver has been broadening its product category beyond occasional and dining into new categories and new price points. The companys styles run the gamut, from traditional and country to transitional and contemporary.
Weve been very strong in the good segment on a good-better-best spectrum, and now were expanding beyond good into the better range, said Corbin. The additional space in Las Vegas will enable us to show more of this new product.
Steve Silvers new Las Vegas showroom will be designed by Lorraine Hayes, who also designed the companys High Point space. The Las Vegas showroom will feature a vignette approach that groups product by style.
Steve Silvers addition of a permanent showroom in Las Vegas is an indicator of the growing importance of the market, said Craig Staack, vice president of home furnishings leasing for International Market Centers. Leading companies recognize the key role the market plays in reaching new and existing customers, particularly in the western U.S. and key international markets.
Steve Silver plans to hold a party for dealers the evening of Monday, Jan. 28, to kick off its new showroom.
