IMC Closes World Market Center Las Vegas

In line with the forced closure of Nevada casinos and non-essential businesses, International Market Centers (IMC) will close the World Market Center Las Vegas and Las Vegas Design Center to the public as of Wednesday, March 18. The 30-day closure, ordered by Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak, aims to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

High Point Market Announces New Dates for Postponed Spring Market

The High Point Market Authority has announced its new dates for the postponed Spring 2020 High Point Market. Originally scheduled for April 25-29, the postponement was announced last week in light of NC Governor Cooper’s advisement to cancel all events that draw an attendance of 100 or more people due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Peruvian Connection Launches Original Print Bedding Collection, Expands Into Lifestyle Category

New York-based luxury brand Peruvian Connection is expanding its core product offering this fall to include original print bedding designed in-house featuring new and archival prints from the brand’s storied history. The Andean weavings and ethnographic textiles of Peru that first inspired Peruvian Connection founder Annie Hurlbut Zander and led her to launch the apparel brand in 1976, continue to tell the brand story in this 15-piece bedding collection.

Ikea to Temporarily Close All U.S. Stores

Ikea, the word’s biggest furniture brand, will temporarily close all 50 store locations across the U.S. as well as the Ikea Planning Studio in Manhattan. The decision was made by Ikea leadership as a pre-cautionary measure due to the rapidly evolving novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). 

NYCxDesign Suspends May Festival Until October

Due to growing concern and in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s recommendation on large-scale events, the May NYCxDESIGN festival has been suspended. Instead programming will be presented this October, timed to align with a month of significant design events planned across the city, such as the Cooper Hewitt, National Design Museum’s National Design Week, Archtober, the Architecture and Design Film Festival (ADFF), and Open House New York Weekend.  The NYCxDESIGN Awards program will continue to honor the design community in May, as planned, with virtual programming followed by a fall live event.
