Jack Lenor Larsen, the world-renowned textile designer who founded the nonprofit sculpture garden and arboretum LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton, died on Dec. 22 at his home, according to a report from Newsday. He was 93.

The Contemporary Design Group, a national networking and buying group, announced the winner of the 2020 Edward Haimsohn Design Award at their virtual annual conference in early December. Top prize went to Cattelan Italia., for the Butterfly Table designed by the nucleo + studio. The Butterfly Table was introduced virtually earlier this year, and its steel base and glass top are available in a variety of finishes.

The Austrian based Sattler AG, known as the leading European performance textile manufacturer of solution-dyed acrylic fabric, especially for outdoor use, acquired USA outdoor fabric manufacturer Outdura from Shuford Mills in 2010. This purchase included the historic Hudson Cotton Mill, circa 1904, which was Shuford Mill’s production operation and distribution center in Hudson, NC, and the building remains as Outdura’s U.S. headquarters and textile production center. The 180,000 sq. ft. mill is also on the National Register of Historic Places.
