Pleasant Mattress Partners with Taos Lifestyle to Carry McRoskey Brand

Independent mattress manufacturer Pleasant Mattress has placed its newly rebranded premium McRoskey bedding line with specialty furniture and mattress retailer, Taos Lifestyle in Taos, New Mexico. The partnership marks the first time the revamped, iconic handcrafted, luxury collection of mattresses is placed in a retailer outside of San Francisco, where it was founded.

“Since we acquired the venerable McRoskey brand in late 2018, it has been our goal to expand it nationally,” said Rion Morgenstern, chief executive officer of Pleasant Mattress. “Our efforts to extend the brand’s reach to select high-quality retailers throughout the country has come to fruition with this placement in Taos Lifestyle, one of New Mexico’s premium dealers of high-end home furnishings. We couldn’t be more pleased with the response we have received from retailers to our relaunch of McRoskey, which will solidify our entrance into the luxury mattress market on a national scale."

Encompassing mattresses built by a dedicated team of specially trained artisans in a 25,000-square-foot factory on Pleasant’s Fresno campus, the McRoskey brand has a 120-year heritage of high-quality manufacturing in the luxury market. The beds are made with layers of premium materials including fine-combed cashmere, lustrous alpaca fleece, ventilating horsehair, hand-teased wool, Supima cotton and Talalay latex, which are hand layered — not glued—together resulting in mattresses that are as much as 20 inches thick before being hand-tufted.

“Placing McRoskey on our floor is a game changer for us,” said Mary Domito, president and owner of Taos Lifestyle. “We can now show our discerning customers the very best in a true, all-natural, luxury line made in the USA and they can buy with confidence knowing its unparalleled comfort and resilience will last for a very long time.”

As Pleasant Mattress broadens the brand’s geographic reach across the U.S., Jon Leonhard, the company’s national sales director, said its retail distribution will be strategically placed with key retailers on an exclusive basis.

“We want to partner with a few premium retailers in each market enabling those stores to differentiate themselves as exclusive McRoskey retailers,” Leonhard said. “We plan to expand the brand in the western region and move eastward to the Northeast and Florida, in markets with consumers with high levels of disposable income. We want to approach retailers that want to distinguish themselves among the competition by catering to the luxury segment with a nationally branded line, and that employ retail sales associates who can tell the McRoskey story,” he added.
