Massage chair supplier Inada USA has become a corporate sponsor of National Public Radio. Underwriting of the program began airing this week.
Inada's sponsorship announcements will be heard on NPR's "Morning Edition", "All Things Considered", "Car Talk" and "Weekend Edition". NPR has 27 million weekly listeners and more than 19 million monthly visitors its Web site.
"We are long-time fans of public radio, and NPR in particular," said Cliff Levin , president of Inada USA. "We are glad to be able to support and sponsor such a great source of news, music and ideas."
The announcement crediting Inada USA for its underwriting support will direct listeners to a special Web site that will educate consumers about the Sogno DreamWeave massage chair, allow them to order it online or find an authorized dealer.
"Inada seeks to educate consumers about the benefits of massage, just as NPR seeks to educate its listeners about the world around them," Levin said. "This is a natural association for both Inada USA and NPR. Inada customers and NPR listeners are demographically very similar-people who are interested in health and wellness."
