Casper Unveils Second Mattress, Touts Ergonomic Features

Casper, the online bed-in-box pioneer that has shaken up the mattress industry with a single product it calls “the perfect mattress,” is introducing a second mattress that incorporates ergonomic technology.

According to Casper officials, the new mattress, the Casper Wave, uses patent-pending, finely tuned contouring zones and polymer support channels that form to the sleeper’s natural shape. An ergonomic sleep surface, it also provides superior spinal alignment while reducing pressure in the shoulders, the company said.

Plus, the new top layer “is a virtually weightless, velvety foam that melts away for effortless comfort,” Casper said in a press release announcing the product launch.

The new product is the result of almost three years of research in its R&D lab in San Francisco.

"With three years of compounded research, feedback, and testing, we challenged ourselves to once again reinvent the mattress," said Jeff Chapin, Casper co-founder and chief product officer. "Inspired by the ergonomic technology that improves our lives outside of the bedroom, the Casper Wave pushes the boundaries of sleep engineering to redefine comfort and support."

The new product is listed on the company’s website for $1,850 in queen and $2,250 in king. Its original mattress retails for $950 in queen and $1,150 in king.
