Hanly Named Director of FBI Media Relations

Furniture Brands International (NYSE:FBN) has promoted Lisa Hanly to director, media relations, a newly created position.

Hanly, most recently senior brand manager at Broyhill Furniture, now is responsible for media relations, public relations and brand partnerships, as well as general communications work across a wide scope of St. Louis-based Furniture Brands projects.

An FBN marketing executive since 2009, at Broyhill she re-launched the brand's consumer Web site, worked on new advertising campaigns and managed public relations, product placement and a variety of brand partnership marketing initiatives. Prior to Furniture Brands and Broyhill, Hanly served as director of marketing at shoes.com and as a brand director for Brown Shoe Co.

"Lisa's marketing savvy and passion for our brands will be an asset to the organization," said FBN Chief Marketing Officer Jim Brenner. "She will not only help FBN effectively communicate our ideas and vision, but will be involved in the marketing operations of our organization and numerous projects that will continue to grow our portfolio of brands."

Art Van Furniture Store to Host Wedding

Art Van Furniture, Warren, Mich., will host a wedding in its 14 Mile Road furniture showroom.

Store Manager Manny Sciberras and Carrie Mouser will wed at the store May 1, with a reception to follow.

"Manny Sciberras and Carrie Mouser met and fell in love at one of our stores, so it seems only fitting that they get married at one," said Art Van Furniture founder and chairman, Art Van Elslander, who is footing the bill for the wedding and reception. "Besides, it all works so well together--love, marriage and building a home."

Keeping with the theme, Art Van Furniture is sponsoring a "Royal Wedding Giveaway," offering a couple a chance to share their nuptials at an Art Van store, along with a lavish reception for up to 100 people. The wedding, which is to take place on 11/11/11, will include food, entertainment, flowers, photography, valet, invitations, tuxedo, wedding cake, bridal planner and two night stay at Mackinac Island, plus a brand new mattress to begin their married life. The Art Van Royal Wedding is valued at more than $25,000.
