Caber Sure Fit Signs 20 New Dealers

By Home Furnishings Business in Bedding on April 3, 2013

Furniture and bedding protection vendor Caber Sure Fit has signed more than 20 new furniture retail accounts in three regions.

The new accounts were signed in the company€™s Northeast, Midwest and Northwest regions.

The announcement came one week after the vendor introduced a new marketing initiative for retailers, part of the company€™s aggressive selling strategy centered around a customizable €œstarter kit€ package that allows retailers to sample some of Caber Sure Fit€™s most popular DreamSerene product offerings.

€œThe accessory category in the United States has become quite regimented. Many of the major players are not requiring dealers to take full programs and in some cases even containers of product. Our new program is designed to put the customer in charge of what they want to order and what they want to sell. Our new program lets a new dealer sample the quality and innovation of our products to see which will appeal most to their customers,€ said Markham, Ontario-based Caber Sure Fit President and CEO Bernard Weinstein. €œThe number of new accounts we€™ve opened in the last week speaks for itself and shows more retailers have recognized--and are taking advantage of--our decade of experience as a leader in the furniture and bedding protection space.€

Hilary Luckenbaugh is IIDA Member of the Year

By Home Furnishings Business in on April 3, 2013

The International Interior Design Association has named Hilary Luckenbaug 2013 Member of the Year.

The award honors an IIDA member who visibly demonstrates commitment to the industry through extensive volunteer effort, and passionate dedication to the IIDA mission of advancing interior design and advocating for its excellence.

Luckenbaugh is an IIDA affiliate in the organization's the Southern California Chapter. She is known among her peers for her tireless work with the Calibre Awards, now in its 25th year of celebrating successful relationships among consultant, client and contractor teams that result in the great interior design work in Southern California. As a two-time chapter board member of the year winner, she was recognized as a "driving force" behind the development of the Southern California Chapter sponsorship program, which now facilitates a robust annual budget for the chapter and enables it to bestow nearly $25,000 in student awards each year.

"Gregarious and sharp of wit, always with time to offer words of guidance, Hilary is fondly referred to by many as the 'grand dame' of the Southern California Chapter," said Christoper Coldoff, immediate past president of IIDA's Southern California chapter. "(She) is the face of IIDA to her peers and industry partners alike. In short, she is the emotional and ethical compass of the chapter, and there's no one I'd recommend higher for this honor."

IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl Durst seconded Coldoff's endorsement.

"Hilary is in so many ways the epitome of a leader," she said. "Her vision, acumen and sense of organization are impeccable. She doesn't just have enthusiasm--she instills it in others. But most of all, she cares about her fellow design professionals and the Profession as a whole, and does everything in her power to support it. It's this sterling combination of values, insight and energy that makes IIDA so proud to honor her as our 2013 Member of the Year."

Luckenbaugh will receive the award at the IIDA Annual Meeting to be held on Sunday, June 9, at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago
