Therapedic Launches 1st "Green" Mattress Line

By Home Furnishings Business in Bedding on July 1, 2011

Bedding manufacturer Therapedic International will launch EcoTouch, its first "green" mattress series, at the August 1-5 Las Vegas Furniture Market.

"We waited for the right time before entering into the green market and recognize there is great opportunity for growth in the value priced, eco-friendly bedding segment," said President and CEO Gerry Borreggine. "Building on the growing market share of eco-friendly mattresses, we created the EcoTouch line in response to consumers' desire for quality, environmentally-friendly beds and retailer demand for competitive price points."

EcoTouch features layers made entirely from soy-based foam. The core is high-density soy foam and topped with five-pounds of soy-based visco foam. The inner section is molded and features unique ergonomically designed extrusions. The top layer of foam is visco, with unique surface modifications designed to improve firmness and increase comfort.

The EcoTouch line also is certified to be 100 percent breathable, using open-cell constructed foam that makes it fully air-permeable for cooler sleep and more comfort than many visco mattresses.

Additionally, the soy-based foam used in the EcoTouch line has received the Oeko-Tex Certificate of Purity, Europe's highest honor in laboratory testing for foam products.

"We know that with a new product like EcoTouch, exclusivity is a must," said Borreggine. "Therapedic has secured a guaranteed exclusive with the manufacturer of the foam for this product. We are anticipating that most, if not all of our licensees--both domestically and internationally--will manufacture the EcoTouch series."

Princeton, N.J.-based Therapedic will debut the EcoTouch collection at Las Vegas Market in World Market Center, Space B-822, where four models will be displayed.

N.J. Ashley Stores Partner With Habitat

By Home Furnishings Business in Community/Charitable Support on July 1, 2011

Ashley Furniture Homestores in Ledgewood and Phillipsburg, N.J., have teamed with Habitat for Humanity to spread the word about Habitat's ReStore thrift stores.

ReStores sell donated, gently-used furniture and building materials to the public to raise funds for the Habitat for Humanity housing program that improves access to affordable housing among the needy. Habitat's housing program uses an innovative model that relies on both donations from the community and "sweat equity" from the families who are selected as housing recipients.

Barry DiMaio, owner and operator of the Ledgewood and Phillipsburg Ashley Furniture Homestores, is no stranger to advancing community causes: He donated $1,000 earlier this year to help the ReStore of Warren County purchase a box truck for furniture pickups.

"They're helping those in need," DiMaio said. "Donating to Habitat ReStore removes unwanted furniture from your home, keeps it out of landfills, and provides the funds to build houses for those who need it most. We're proud to help ReStore in their efforts to provide for those in need in our communities."

Customer service desks at the Ledgewood and Phillipsburg Ashley Furniture HomeStores all have flyers outlining the benefits of ReStore, as well as guidelines for donating to the Morris County or Warren County ReStores. As a courtesy to Ashley Furniture HomeStore customers, these ReStores pick up good-condition furniture from homes free of charge.

Wright to Offer On-Site Client Support in Vegas

By Home Furnishings Business in POP (Point of Purchase Materials) on July 1, 2011

Wright of Thomasville has created "Wright Assist," an at-market concierge service to help clients prepare and install signage and other point-of-purchase materials.

The program debuts at the next month's Las Vegas Furniture Market. As a part of its service offering at market, the company will also have an on-site designer with the necessary tools to help its clients work collaboratively with their customers to create specialized campaigns in real time.

Wright will operate the center at space World Market Center, Space B1062, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. daily, from Thursday, July 28 through the close of the market on August 5. It will be open after hours by special appointment.

In addition to the on-site designer, staffers will be available to assist clients install signs, point-of-purchase materials, receive deliveries, provide extra pillows or shams, and press or clean fabrics if needed.

"Our clients go to market to put their best foot forward to their clients and we felt we needed to be there, at their side, to make sure they have the very best presentation they can," said Greg Wright, president and CEO of Thomasville, N.C.-based Wright of Thomasville. "Crisp point-of-purchase material and for that matter all the components we provide in the marketing communications arena is an integral part of their marketing program so we felt that we needed to have a team on-site to help handle a number of common emergency needs clients typically have."

The on-site designer is another new product offering the company is unveiling for this Market.

"For the first time, one of our clients can bring a customer or prospect to our space, and in real time, we can begin to develop a special look/presentation for their offering," Wright said. "This process can cut out weeks of time and follow-up, particularly right after market when many companies are very busy with follow-up activities."

Musher Jeff King to Promote Paramount Sleep Mattress

By Home Furnishings Business in Mattresses on July 1, 2011

Iditarod musher Jeff King will serve as spokesman for Paramount Sleep's Back Performance mattress line.

King, four-time Iditarod champion, came out of retirement Saturday to enter the 40th Iditarod dog-sled race across Alaska. He'd taken a one-year hiatus from the race.

"I needed a break. I needed to go spend some time doing some other things," King said, and one of those things was getting a good night's sleep. "I had no idea what a great night sleep on a Back Performance FE Alaskan King Model could do for me."

Paramount€™s Back Performance mattresses offer a balanced combination of comfort and support for active lifestyles. Advanced coil technologies provide proper posture alignment for a healthy spine while layers of premium zoned foam and Memory Foam respond to the body with pressure-relieving comfort for deep, restorative sleep.

"We developed the Back Performance collection specifically for people like Jeff who lead an active lifestyle," said Richard Fleck, chief marketing officer of Paramount Sleep, Norfolf, Va. "They shouldn't have to choose between comfort and support."

All Back Performance mattresses offer breathable Memory Foam that molds to an individual's unique shape, while four distinct models allow for a choice of features.

"We're thrilled that Jeff, who is the epitome of the active lifestyle, has chosen Paramount's Back Performance mattress for a good night's sleep," Fleck said. "We look forward to working with him as the collection's new spokesperson."

King€™s victories include not only the 1,049 mile Iditarod Sled Dog Race in 1993, 1996, 1998, and 2006, but also more than two dozen first place finishes in races all across Alaska. During the past 20 years, King has logged more than 100,000 miles on a dog sled. He was inducted into the Iditarod Hall of Fame in 1999 and is a skilled dog trainer who recently spoke at the 2011 International Association of Canine Professionals Conference.
