Longtime
Standard Furniture employee Todd Evans has been named president of the Bay Minette, Ala.-based case goods company.
In addition to his role as president, Evans also assumes the position of president of International Furniture Co., Standard's design and product development company with operations in California, Vietnam and China. Evans succeeds Mike Peters who was president and CEO since 2008.
The company also renamed William Hodgson chief executive officer. Hodgson held the CEO position prior to 2008 at which time Standard's board of directors thought Peters, the company's chief financial officer, was the best qualified to lead the company through the economic crisis.
"Over the past four years, Peters and the management team successfully navigated Standard through the latest recession, and the company has emerged much leaner, with a greater focus on product, style and value," Evans said.
Hodgson and Evans will concentrate on building customer loyalty through strong product introductions, exceptional values and continuous operational improvement. Peters will continue to work at Standard as an advisor to the CEO and as a member of Standards executive management team.

Luxury mattress brand Pure Latexbliss has added a second showroom for the Jan. 30-Feb. 3 Las Vegas Furniture Market.
One showroom, World Market Center-B945, will focus solely on the latex products for which the company is known. Across the hall in WMC-B930, Pure Latexbliss will feature the Fast and Slow Response Natural Talalay Latex new Hybrid 3.0 collections.
"Last summer, we were at capacity in our showroom," said Atlanta-based Pure Latexbliss Co-Founder and CEO Kurt Ling. "Since we've experienced great success in pre-selling the Hybrid 3.0 series to select retailers, we realized we needed more space to allow us to showcase all models in this collection. By operating multiple showrooms, we can ensure we have ample floor space to give retailers the opportunity to fully experience the growing segment of our business."
