DwellStudio, a furniture and accessories company known for its boldly patterned textiles, is opening its first store on Friday in New York's SoHo.
"We've been a wholesaler for almost 12 years, and never really get to see the entire collection together in one space," said Christiane Lemieux, its founder.

The owners of Roy's Home Furnishings, a local landmark in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago, said they will decide by Monday if the store will return after the building was destroyed in an extra-alarm blaze Tuesday.
In a best case scenario, the store would re-open "by the end of the summer," said Roy's Marketing Manager Johanna Parra, as the building at 2455 N. Sheffield Ave. was being demolished today. Fire officials said the fire -- which took several hours to get under control -- was an accident and is believed to have been caused by a cigarette.

Pier 1 reported that revenue at stores open at least a year climbed 7.2 percent in the first quarter, helped by strong holiday assortments.
Its total revenue for the period topped Wall Street expectations. It's a key gauge of a retailer's health because it excludes volatility from stores recently opened or closed.
First-quarter revenue increased 8 percent to $361 million, beating Wall Street's estimate of $360.7 million.
