Former Tuesday Morning CEO Claims She was Fired for Having Cancer

Tuesday Morning Corp. (TUES) (TUES)€™s former Chief Executive Officer Kathleen Mason filed a discrimination claim accusing the home furnishings close-out chain of firing her because she has breast cancer.

Mason was removed from her job on June 6, about three weeks after she claims she got an ultimatum following the disclosure of her medical condition to the company€™s board.

Reid Furniture Hits 85-year Milestone

Reid Furniture Company on East Mitchell Street in downtown Petoskey, Mich., first opened its doors 85 years ago.

In 1927, James A. Reid worked for another local furniture store and decided to start his own furnishings emporium when that business closed. He owned and operated Reid Furniture until his death in 1953.

Costco Looks to Open Store in Indiana

Costco Wholesale Corp. seeks to build a discount bulk store in Fort Wayne, Ind., on the location of a former snack food production plant.

Costco's chief rival, the Wal-Mart-owned Sams Club, has a store near the proposed location.

British-born retailer sofa.com has opened its first location in the U.S. in New York's Chelsea neighborhood.

The retailer specializes in made-to-order business and offers more than 60 fabrics.

"Whether you have an appreciation for home décor, an eye for one-of-a-kind pieces, or just need a little help finding the perfect sofa for your needs, our 'comfy team' is on hand to guide you through our unparalleled shopping experience."

Committed to promoting self-expression, the retailer can also cover any of its sofas, chairs and footstools in designer fabrics, as well as in its house collection of fabrics. 

Designed and manufactured in Europe, the company's furniture will be available to consumers in and around a 100-mile radius of Manhattan. The showroom is located at 601 West 26th St., 17th Floor.
