A collection of handmade and one-of-a-kind works from Las Vegas artists and designers will shine in the 18b installation at Gift+Home at Las Vegas Market.
This partnership between International Market Centers and 18b, a non-profit association representing the Las Vegas Arts District community of artists, designers, and makers, will be presented--and made available for sale--in a 2,500-square-foot showroom at Las Vegas Furniture Market, alongside a dynamic collection of home décor suppliers on C3.
Las Vegas is well-known for gaming and other attractions, but the city also has a vibrant community of artists and designers, said Dorothy Belshaw, president of Gift & Home Décor, International Market Centers. We are delighted to partner with 18b to showcase local talents.
A wide range of art, sculptures, custom furnishings and boutique items will be offered for sale during the market. Participating artists include Alios Lighting; Assemblage Studios, Eric Strain; Brett Wesley Gallery, Brett Wesley; CoLab, Amy Finchem; Hayley Hunter, Hayley Hunter; Inside Style, Jill Abelman; Retro Vegas, Bill Johnson; Todd VonBastiaans & ByanMcCormick; Trifecta, Marty Walsh; and Vexed by Design, Marlene Reid.

Arising from the original 18 blocks designated as the Las Vegas Arts District, the 18b Las Vegas Arts District Neighborhood Association serves to encourage the creative development of artists and designers. The neighborhood, which is a pedestrian-oriented community located in historic downtown Las Vegas approximately half a mile from the World Market Center Las Vegas, is home to an eclectic mix of galleries, boutiques, working studios and creative design space. The neighborhood is bordered by Commerce Street, Hoover Avenue, 4th Street, Las Vegas Boulevard and Colorado Avenue.

Employees of a North Portland mattress factory on Wednesday made an impassioned plea to the citizen's board that oversees Oregon's pension investments to help save their jobs.
Employees and union leaders from Sealy's mattress plant in Portland, slated for closure in March, were making a last-ditch effort by asking the board to intercede with the leveraged buyout giant Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, Sealy's largest shareholder.

Sealy Corp. narrowed its fiscal fourth-quarter loss as mattresses sales improved from last year and beat market expectations.
The company, based in Trinity, N.C., is one of the largest bedding brands in the world, with mattress lines such as Sealy Posturepedic and Stearns & Foster. It has been dealing with intense competition in the industry as mattress makers increased their marketing and promotions to help lure cost-conscious consumers into making big purchases.
