The Interior Design Society is currently accepting applications for its Designer of the Year award.
Projects completed between May 1, 2012 and September 30 2013 are eligible to compete in the awards. Categories exist for a number of areas, including window treatments, kitchens, baths, bedrooms, living spaces and a number of singular areas.
Each entry must include a $75 fee per category entered.
Deadline for entries is Nov. 15.

Coastal Living magazine builds a house from scratch every year to make homeowners across America jealous ... and to give them design tips, of course. This year's location just happened to be a spot right here in the Lowcountry. Daniel Island was selected as the best U.S. city of 2012, and Coastal Living decided to create their "idea house" on this little slice of South Carolina paradise.
The beachfront, 4,000-plus square foot home features an open floor plan, extensive porches, a carriage house, and a private dock.

The recovery in the housing market has helped spark an upturn on spending on home goods and materials.
When a house is underwater with more owed on the mortgage than the residence is worth, homeowners usually limit spending to emergency repairs. But with home sales and prices on the upswing, Americans are investing to improve their homes.
That's helped give a nice lift to home furnishing retailers. Privately held retailers of home-related goods and materials are seeing strong sales growth, according to new data from Sageworks, a financial information company.
