     Big Lots, Inc. announced that it has received court approval for the sale of substantially all of the Company’s assets and ongoing business operations to an affiliate of Nexus Capital Management LP (“Nexus”). The sale, which is subject to customary closing conditions, is expected to close in early December.

     Walmart and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) announced a 10-year, $34.5 million renewal of the historic Acres for America conservation program. This new commitment from Walmart, combined with previous contributions, represents the largest corporate donation to NFWF since the Foundation’s creation by Congress in 1984, for a total of more than $100 million since the program began.

     The 12th annual Night of Luminaries and Rising Stars, presented by the Carolinas Chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA), honors a company, organization or individual who represents the pinnacle of achievement in the home, design, and décor industries, and also celebrates the most outstanding creative talent from colleges and universities across the Carolinas and Georgia. 17 students were awarded the Rising Star designation and High Point’s own Bienenstock Furniture Library was presented as the 2024 Luminary Award recipient.
