Harold Hart Dies at 71

Harold Hart, owner of Hart Furniture in Siler City, N.C., died Thursday with his family at his side at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.
Hart, 71, was the honoree of this past August's Piedmont Club golf tournament benefiting Brenner Children's Hospital.
He was the son of the late Gurman Archie and Hazel Dunlap Hart. Harold made his mark in the family business, Hart Furniture, which was started by Gurman in 1952, and where Harold started working as a teenager in 1956. After Gurman retired, Harold took over the business, expanding it nationally and internationally.
Hart's public involvement included serving as member and vice chair Siler City Planning Board and Board of Adjustments; board member RBC Arena Centennial Authority; Chatham Hospital Board; N. C. State Health Coordinating Council; Planters/Centura/RBC Bank Board; Rotary Club; member of Board of Directors; Board Member of Chamber of Commerce; and Member of N.C. State Wolfpack Club.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Faye Self Hart; daughter, Lisa Hart Stout and husband, Ray; son, Bradley Harold Hart; and grandchildren, Arielle Raye Stout and Nolan Hart Stout.
