Specialized furniture carrier and international 3PL provider Zenith Global Logistics has relocated its freight hub in Maryland.
The move from Elkton, Md., to Aberdeen, Md., allowed the company to expand its square footage by 300 percent and add a full-service distribution center at the new location.
The hub totals 88,000 square feet and is designed to provide timely speed to market for high population areas throughout New England.
“This new location was chosen strategically and specifically to enable our dispatching operation to deal with the latest hours of service changes required by the latest Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Compliance, Safety, Accountability rules,” said Jack Hawn, president and CEO. “Our goal was to select a location that would ensure our drivers could consistently transport product from North Carolina to Maryland within the new driving time limits.”
Hawn said the new location allows the company to serve customers in the Northeast with complete warehousing that includes total traceability, 24/7 product visibility and FIFO inventory acceptability and lot matching.
“Plus, just as we do at our North Carolina, Texas, and California operations, we offer a complete range of specialized 3PL warehousing services,” Hawn said.
The Maryland expansion is part of a long-range growth plan the company has been operating under during the past several years. During that time Zenith has opened regional hubs throughout the U.S., including Atlanta, Baltimore, Dallas, Indianapolis, San Antonio, Tupelo, Miss., and West Palm Beach, Fla. It also recently boosted its North Carolina storage and handling capacity by more than 30 percent when it acquired the former Boyles Furniture facility in Conover, N.C., as its new corporate headquarters. Future plans include a new facility in California.
