Upholstery supplier Lee Inds. dedicated its new corporate offices in Conover, N.C., Monday with N.C. Gov. Pat McCrory looked on.

The company has created more than 75 jobs and invested $2.5 million in Catawba County.

"We applaud LEE Industries for building on our state's proud history in furniture manufacturing," McCrory said. "We must continue to support investments that restore aging buildings to advanced manufacturing facilities that create jobs and other economic opportunities for our community."

Founded in 1969, Lee renovated a building that once housed Conover Chair Co.

The new facility gives Lee the ability to increase its manufacturing capabilities and to accommodate an increase in leather upholstery sales.

Lee currently employs 608 people in North Carolina.

The project was made possible in part by a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) of up to $750,000. The state grant, which is based on the company creating 38 jobs over the first three years of the project.
