Risk Assurance Partners Announces Enhancements to FurnitureRX Subscription Programs

Risk Assurance Partners (RAP), a leading provider of furniture protection programs, including dealer reinsurance and subscription programs, announced enhancements to its FurnitureRx subscription protection programs designed to help retailers increase protection sales during the prolonged furniture industry downturn.
The enhancements include an expanded, RAP-funded sales associate commission offer through December 31, 2027. The program helps retailers convert more of the approximately 70% of customers RAP estimates decline traditional multi-year protection, while providing a second source of commission income for retail sales associates.
The announcement follows RAP’s recent analysis of furniture and housing sales through August 2026. The analysis found that inflation-adjusted furniture sales for January through August 2026 were approximately 27.5% below the comparable 2021 period, while housing transactions were approximately 33.2% lower. Furniture sales declined another 5.5% compared with the first eight months of 2025, despite modest improvement in housing activity.
“Furniture retailers have been operating through an extended downturn, and the housing market has yet to provide meaningful relief,” said Douglas K. Wright, founder and CEO of Risk Assurance Partners. “Mortgage rates and affordability remain obstacles to a stronger housing recovery. Our outlook calls for continued pressure on furniture store traffic through 2027, making it increasingly important for dealers to generate additional revenue from the customers they already serve.”
FurnitureRx gives retailers a $19.99-per-month protection option to offer customers who decline a traditional multi-year plan. The subscription complements the retailer’s existing protection program and allows customers to purchase protection through recurring monthly payments rather than an upfront multi-year purchase.
Under the enhanced introductory offer, RAP funds sales associate commission on each of the first three successful subscription payments and deposits the commission funds into the dealer’s Stripe account, and the dealer administers payment to its associates.
Participating dealers establish associate eligibility by setting a minimum attachment rate for their existing multi-year protection program. Associates offer the traditional plan first, then introduce subscription protection when the customer declines.
“Every customer who declines protection represents another opportunity,” said Dan Debonville, senior vice president of sales at RAP. “Subscription gives associates another way to meet that customer’s needs and earn additional commission. During a period of slower traffic, those additional earnings can help retailers support and retain their sales teams.”
Dealers receive commissions with successful monthly subscription payment, creating recurring revenue from customers who otherwise might leave without purchasing protection. Dealers pay RAP no funds to sell subscription and the program supports dealer reinsurance participation.
The three-payment commission offer applies to eligible subscriptions enrolled through December 31, 2027, including qualifying second and third payments made in 2028.
