Luxury home furnishings provider John-Richard today announced the appointment of Scott Smith to the role of President. Smith, who previously served as Chief Merchandising Officer, steps into this expanded leadership position as part of a strategic, planned succession framework designed to ensure seamless leadership continuity for current Chief Executive Officer, Alan Galbraith.
“Scott has been an exceptional contributor to John-Richard since joining us three years ago, quickly gaining a firm grasp of the strategies and vision required to enable our next phase of growth,” said Alan Galbraith, CEO. “He has earned deep respect across our worldwide network of associates and suppliers—no small feat given the scale of our global manufacturing and distribution operations. This promotion recognizes his ever-increasing influence, leadership, and dedication to our organization’s success.”
The leadership transition positions Smith to ultimately succeed Galbraith as CEO in the future, allowing Galbraith to eventually shift away from day-to-day operations while ensuring the company maintains deep experiential continuity. This executive evolution underscores a broader corporate commitment to building a robust, multi-tiered talent framework capable of driving sustained, long-term brand equity.
Since transitioning ownership in late 2020, John-Richard has entirely self-funded massive capital transformations to secure its operational footprint. Key foundational milestones include a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Vietnam, a highly efficient distribution center and new corporate headquarters in Whitsett, North Carolina, an advanced ERP system deployment, and a completely modernized digital Dealer Portal and website.
“With our critical infrastructure completely in place, John-Richard is free to focus executive energy on aggressive sales and marketing initiatives globally without fear of capacity limitations or execution bottlenecks,” Galbraith added. “By continuously investing in both our physical capabilities and our people, we ensure that our brand remains exceptionally well-positioned to prosper, scale, and serve our global partners for years to come.”
