Liberty Furniture, a leading whole-home resource for value-driven, quality furniture, is continuing to invest in supply chain excellence with the appointment of veteran retailer Will Daughtrey as vice president of supply chain.
Daughtrey is well known as a successful merchandising and supply chain strategist with more than 20 years of experience with retail leaders. He was most recently vice president of merchandising and supply at Gardner White Furniture & Mattress, where he led merchandising, sourcing, inventory, replenishment, freight and vendor strategy. He previously served as vice president of merchandising and supply chain at Kane’s Furniture, where he was responsible for directing pricing, inventory planning and product lifecycle management.
On the wholesale side, Daughtrey spent three years as chief merchandising officer at Standard Furniture where he developed more than 75 new collections each year and managed more than 25 factories across multiple countries. Prior to that, he served in a number of category management roles at Badcock Home Furniture & More, a 350-store retail chain.
“Will sees the furniture business through the lens of a successful retailer and that will be invaluable insight as we continue to evolve,” said Jonathan Cowles, president of Liberty Furniture. “While his role encompasses supply chain and back-of-house operations, he knows how to read a retail floor. He intimately understands customers’ needs, and we expect his perspective will be a great benefit to our revenue team, helping us identify opportunities and craft solutions and services that differentiate us from the competition.”
Daughtrey marks the latest strategic hire at Liberty, following Bryan Edwards as senior vice president of sales, and the elevation of Maggie Henning as director of sales.
“Rather than cutting back in a challenging economic environment, we’re continuing to invest, and looking forward to 2027,” Cowles said. “As we adapt to our customers’ needs, we see opportunities on the road ahead. We know market share is historically won in turbulent times and we’re putting the right assets in place to support our growth, setting ourselves up to take advantage when business eventually turns. If the past six years have taught us anything, it’s that the supply chain is a critical part of the formula for success. Will’s hire is really building on that team.”
According to Daughtrey, retailers’ greatest challenge now is driving traffic into stores and ensuring they have the right product at the right time.
“If a consumer is walking into a store now, they are serious about buying. The worst thing that can happen is that what they want is not in stock. Along with high perceived value, on-point finishes, and quality products that retailers can trust and depend on, one of the greatest advantages Liberty offers is its warehouses and in-stock position. Our products are there and ready for quick delivery,” he said.
Daughtrey received his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of South Florida and his bachelor’s degree from Clemson University, where he majored in design.
At the upcoming High Point Market, he will join the Liberty executive team working with customers in Liberty’s showroom at Centers for High Point at 401 Manning Street. For more information, please visit: www.mylibertyfurniture.com
