Coaster Fine Furniture Showcases Vintage Modernism at HPMKT

Coaster Fine Furniture will be showing off its expression of the vintage modernism decorating trend this Fall at the High Point Furniture Market with a new themed gallery in its showroom’s first-floor Annex. The special presentation focuses on vintage charm meeting modern style via rich wood tones, saturated colors, textural fabrics and organic curvy shapes.

Envisioned as a lookbook that comes to life, the boutique-style environment has been designed to inspire retailers and designers alike. In interpreting the popular decorating trend, Coaster has curated an elevated mix of new products combined with successful collections and bestsellers, while intentionally stirring in affordable options across promotional, mid-range and higher price points. Throughout the layered presentation incorporating living room and accent seating, bedroom, dining room and occasional, the emphasis is on helping High Point Marketgoers envision how this season’s newest looks can be easily blended with existing pieces in the Coaster line and merchandised in new ways to excite today’s shoppers.

“Consumers now are more and more comfortable blending refurbished antique shop finds with new furniture in ways that speak to their own personal style,” said Crystal Nguyen, vice president of merchandise and strategic product planning at Coaster. “Vintage modernism is a design evolution where old meets new in unexpected ways. Not everything needs to be matchy-matchy and décor and furniture double as art pieces that feel collected over time. The look is often quirky with a touch of whimsy, where seemingly disparate pieces come together to stunning effect.”

As such, Coaster’s vintage modern upholstered silhouettes are designed to make sculptural statements. The two-piece Casarin sofa, for example, is covered in a soft brown textured fabric and offers a gracefully curved shape enhanced by oversized rounded arms and vertically channeled backrests with a clean, bench-style seat. (Suggested retail $2,629).

Rich, dark navy blue gives the new Saldana seating collection (suggested retail $3,079 for two-piece sofa and loveseat) a sophisticated, on trend look. Upholstered in textured performance velvet, each piece features a softly rounded silhouette, curved arms, plush cushioning, and coordinating accent pillows. A new wingback chair completes the collection with sculptural style, enveloping comfort and a fresh modern presence.

In accent chairs, vintage charm meets modern comfort in the curvaceous Rainn, upholstered in a blue jacquard floral pattern with softly sloped, rounded arms and plush cushions. Suggested retail $2,199, it’s a fresh take on “granny chic” that imparts collected character and cozy elegance. The Nordin also gives classic style a playful update with a skirted swivel chair covered in a navy blue jacquard floral print that adds rich color and nostalgic charm. (Suggested retail $719).

Punctuating the emphasis on saturated color throughout the space is the new Latier upholstered platform bed with bold curves and a tall wingback headboard. Wrapped in a warm, rust-colored fabric, the low-profile piece combines retro-inspired character with contemporary comfort. (Suggested retail $979).

The new Faulkner dining collection, available either as an extension table that seats up to eight, or a round table for four, pairs organic forms and modern style with oversized cylindrical legs and generously rounded corners with back-hugging upholstered dining chairs. Available in a choice of cream or moss upholstery, it’s a Coaster exclusive design crafted from solid hardwood and red oak veneer in a warm brown oak finish. (Suggested retail $1449 for five-piece round).

Lucaire shows off the versatility of Coaster products and visual themes. Shown in a new finish—sophisticated deep black softened with cream chenille upholstery—the exclusive Coaster bedroom design formerly shown as part of the Modern Tuscany aesthetic looks right at home in the vintage modernism presentation with its sophisticated balance of modern style and timeless appeal. With engineered natural stone tops and antique brass hardware, it’s crafted from elm veneer and Asian hardwood with a lightly wire-brushed 12-step finish. (Suggested retail $3,039).

To explore vintage modernism further, plan to stop by Coaster’s showroom at 111 E. Commerce Ave. during High Point Market.
