Modern Matter Announces Collection of Hardware with Schumacher

Modern Matter is proud to announce its brand-new collaboration with the venerable American design house Schumacher. The collection marks Schumacher’s first foray into hardware and also signals a category expansion for Modern Matter, introducing architectural drapery and cabinet hardware ranging from curtain rods, finials, and end caps to knobs, backplates, and pulls.

Crafted from solid brass, the products are presented in a refined palette of finishes: burnished brass, unlacquered brass, polished brass, and a newly introduced antique nickel developed exclusively for the collaboration. The cabinet hardware assortment includes knobs, backplates, bar pulls, and appliance pulls, with select designs incorporating Lucite and natural wood accents in ebony and acacia. The drapery hardware includes curtain rods, finials, and end caps designed to function as architectural statements. Inspired by the sculptural forms and bold restraint of famed American silversmith and jeweler William Spratling, the collection is defined by strong architectural profiles and a weighty, tactile presence—refined, intentional, and deeply grounded in craftsmanship.

Both Modern Matter and Schumacher share a deep commitment to design excellence, craft, and enduring style. With this collaboration, the brands are offering a holistic option for designers to coordinate the new curtain and cabinet hardware with Schumacher’s iconic fabrics and wallcoverings, creating layered, intentional interiors.

“As a creative company, we’ve long been inspired by Schumacher’s history and design legacy,” says Kat Litton, Modern Matter’s Chief Creative Officer. “Their work is timeless and classic, yet continually evolving with fresh, inspiring ideas, making this collaboration a natural fit.”

“Our new partnership with Modern Matter has been a dream, not only because the company’s dedication to beauty and craftsmanship aligns so well with Schumacher’s, but also because they understood what we were after in creating a collection that feels classic but of-the-moment all at once,” adds Schumacher Creative Director Dara Caponigro. “They embraced our ideas and helped bring them to life with a refined and artistic approach.”

The collection launches Sept 30, and will be available at modern-matter.com and schumacher.com. The collection will also be available in select Schumacher showrooms.
