Meridian Furniture Adds Wall Art to Whole-Home Offerings

Meridian Furniture, a fast-growing brand known for its vast selection of high-style, design-driven pieces, will expand its whole-home offering at the Fall High Point Market with the debut of a new line of modern abstract expressionist wall decor featuring more than 50 new pieces.

Following the recent introduction of its first major lighting collection, the addition of wall art gives retailers and designers more opportunities to source coordinated products for the entire room from a single resource. Developed by MJ Marx, Meridian’s senior merchant and product development leader, and inspired by fine art, the line includes hand-painted and highly textured canvas works using mixed media such as plaster, linen, fabric, paper and rope, in lightweight poly frames with natural wood or walnut finishes to ensure ease of hanging.

“Abstract art gives people the freedom to interpret a piece in their own way and connect with it on a personal level,” Marx said. “Unlike a landscape or botanical, an abstract can evoke a different emotion or meaning for every person who sees it. That ability to support personal expression is one of the reasons abstract art continues to be such an important part of the wall décor business.”

Ranging from approximately 24 by 36 inches to 60 inches, the collection includes tonal compositions as well as more graphic, color-driven designs. Warm hues, natural textures and layered neutral palettes allow the pieces to coordinate across a variety of interiors. Select designs can also be displayed in multiple orientations or grouped into larger installations.

“Wall art and lighting are natural extensions of Meridian’s whole-home strategy,” Marx said. “These categories complement our furniture assortment and allow our customers to create a more complete design story while purchasing from one source.”

Collection highlights include Becket, a hand-painted canvas featuring raised circular forms in a soothing sage palette, and Veridian, which combines sculptural forms in layered olive tones with fabric accents and subtle linen detailing. Evangeline features stacked, cairn-inspired forms against a warm olive taupe ground, while Tate brings a bolder color story with radiant amber, deep teal and inky blue fields softened by brushed edges.

Suggested retail prices range from $200 to $500. According to Marx, the goal is to provide customers with an affordable way to personalize rooms and “cure the white wall” without major renovations.

The launch follows Meridian’s recent introduction of an 80-SKU lighting collection spanning table, accent and floor lamps and featuring marble, acacia and mango woods, woven rattan and other organic materials and textures.

“Meridian has always focused on offering products that stand apart from the expected, and that same approach is guiding our expansion into lighting and wall décor,” Marx added. “By combining distinctive design, accessible pricing and products that work naturally together, we are building a more complete resource for retailers and designers.”

The company plans to expand the wall décor category based on customer response, with opportunities to add new abstracts as well as botanicals, landscapes, lifestyle imagery and dimensional metal and mixed-media pieces.

Meridian Furniture will showcase its new wall art collection, lighting introductions and new furniture across its key categories during the Fall High Point Market, in its IHFC showroom, C403, Commerce, Floor 4.
