Who is the Audience? AARP Publishes Top 10 Mattress Deals for Labor Day

One could argue that AARP targets those on a fixed income, with a variety of tips in various categories including fitness, discounts, rewards and money. The article about the mattress sales appears in the latter category. (For your information, Generation X now falls into the AARP family.)

The Labor Day Mattress Sale list begins with the introduction, “Are you considering buying a new bed? If so, now might be a good time to get one of the best mattresses for less money, thanks to Labor Day deals. Many top companies are running holiday sales ranging from 25 percent to 67 percent off beds, sleep accessories and adjustable bases.”

Called “AARP Smart Picks,” the article helps members “cut through the marketing hype and help you identify real value.” Testers age 45 and up were employed to test factors like pressure relief, spinal alignment and edge support. The article also recommends keeping an eye out for discounts on mattress toppers, pillows, and sheet sets.
