With aesthetic coherence and material identity, the KORO outdoor lamps preserve the essence and design vision of the collection created by Eli Gutiérrez for SKLD Studio. They are distinguished by their totemic forms, defined by rounded volumes and essential curves, and by their original handcrafted weave — the result of a combination of knotted ropes and horizontally woven straps that bring movement to each piece. A graphic and bold skin, capable of delicately enveloping every structure. The exploration of new weaving techniques, developed together with the company's in-house team, has led to a unique solution in which artisanal knowledge and material research become the very core of the project. With a design of strong visual impact and rich character, each piece is one of a kind — handmade — and specifically conceived to withstand outdoor conditions.
Made from aluminum and polyester fiber, the KORO lamps are available in two sizes and two colour variants — beige and brown — and draw on the same formal language and design approach as the entire collection, maintaining the geometric, monolithic and organic lines that define it. Fitted with a handle for easy repositioning, they filter light through their woven surface, creating intimate and warm atmospheres at sunset. An essential detail that carries the visual language of the collection into outdoor lighting.
The KORO Collection
The collection takes its inspiration from Japanese culture and the kōro—the traditional incense burner with its soft, rounded forms — blending Japanese sensibility and elegance with contemporary craftsmanship. In traditional Japan, incense was used to measure time, to accompany readings, gatherings and rituals, as a tool for concentration and attentiveness. The kōro thus becomes a threshold object, suspended between the visible and the invisible, between matter and air. Both ritual and aesthetic elements, the kōro is not merely a functional object but a sensory medium that accompanies meditation and slow time.
Designer Eli Gutiérrez shares, "The lamps are the result of the creative freedom that allowed me to develop bespoke pieces, where the artisanal process and material research became the true driving force of the design. The KORO collection is born from the union of Japanese culture and a passion for craftsmanship. Its organic, monolithic forms are inspired by the rounded volumes and four essential curves of the kōro. These forms are wrapped in a weave in which the original interlacing is what gives the pieces their sinuosity and refinement, endowing them with a graphic, distinctive skin that dresses the structure as if it were a garment."
In total, the KORO collection comprises ten pieces, three of which are available in a double version with a low or high backrest: the lounge armchair, the daybed and the swing. The collection is completed, in addition to the lamps, by two side tables, one of which serves as an armrest table.
