Furniture Mall Opens Kansas City Showroom in Former Macy’s

According to an article in the Kansas City Star, a 1,000-room furniture store will have a grant opening event in a former Northland Macy's next week. Developer IAS Partners, who are redeveloping the former Metro North Mall into a mixed-use development, Metro North Crossing, announced that Furniture Mall’s new location will celebrate their grand opening on July 8.
The grand opening event will include food, refreshments, games and "hot buys," according to a news release. Furniture Mall's online listing indicates the location is open now.
With more than 1,000 rooms including living rooms, bedroom and dining rooms, the location will also include mattresses. Each room will include lighting, rugs, accessories and wall decorations. As well as shopping, customers can ride tricycles around the showroom and enjoy snacks including frozen custard, cookies, and drinks.
The Winter family opened the first Furniture Mall in 2013. There are currently stores in Olathe, Kansas and Lee's Summit, Missouri.
The new Furniture Mall location will cover about 150,000-square feet of the former Macy's store.
