Underscoring the dynamism of a new outdoor brand that aims to establish itself quickly through its values and the consolidated expertise of the Voolcan group to which it belongs, SKLD Studio will be present for the first time at Clerkenwell Design Week from 19 - 21 May — an internationally recognised festival celebrating creativity, innovation and excellence in design.
Clerkenwell Design Week (CDW) takes place in London's EC1 district — considered one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city, with a strong presence of architecture and creative studios, offices, tech startups, restaurants and art galleries — and will welcome tens of thousands of visitors from the UK and abroad, all eager to discover the latest that global design has to offer.
To mark its 15th anniversary, in addition to a new curated series of large-scale installations called "Design Interventions" — which will bring a new interactive dimension to the event — a mix of historic and contemporary buildings will once again serve as the backdrop for CDW26.
Among these is The Charterhouse, home to some of the finest contemporary furniture, decorative lighting and premium finishes brands. Here, SKLD Studio presents its new Arata collection, designed by Valerio Sommella and just unveiled in Milan at the Salone del Mobile this past April: a set of armchairs and a round rust-colored side table creates a relaxed lounge area. Arata is a complete outdoor furniture collection signed by the internationally acclaimed Italian designer, whose portfolio includes collaborations with renowned companies across various sectors such as Alessi, Nemo and RH. For SKLD Studio, this marks its first collaboration with an Italian designer. In Japanese, Arata means "fresh" or "new", capturing the spirit of a collection defined by soft curves and generous radii. Conceived to create an elegant and airy atmosphere — extending from dining and lounge areas to the poolside — the collection features artisanal weaving that echoes the classic elements of macramé. Balancing the structure of aluminum tubes with the warmth of braided cord and soft cushions, Arata lends a sophisticated and contemporary character to any outdoor setting, through a refined blend of subtle yet striking elements — making it equally compelling for interior use.
Alongside the lounge area, the dining zone features the large Tempo dining table, designed by La Mamba Studio, part of a collection born from the union of lightness, modularity and outdoor comfort, evoking atmospheres of relaxation and escape from daily routine. The Serra dining chairs, in the White Wash finish, designed by Kar Duran & Miguel López, are part of a collection that draws from the essence of classic rattan chairs and proposes a bold design, combining traditional seat weaving with slender metal legs — breaking away from conventional aesthetics.
The setting is completed by a selection of three Ventus vases designed by Belén Burguete.
These are outdoor furniture pieces and accessories created not only with an aesthetic purpose, but to evoke emotion — lending character and exclusivity to every project.
With a clear, timeless vocation, SKLD Studio's collections combine elegance and functionality, developed through slender lines and refined proportions. Each piece reflects a meticulous design process in which aesthetics and detail are in dialogue, creating objects conceived to coexist naturally and serenely with their surroundings.
