DOVR Media Introduces AI Readiness Scores at HPMKT

DOVR Media, the largest Shopify partner in the home furnishings vertical serving over 1,000 retail storefronts across North America, today announced the launch of the industry's first AI Readiness Score. This proprietary assessment tool grades furniture retailers on a 0 to 100 scale across six dimensions of AI preparedness and is designed to give them a clear picture of their visibility in AI-powered search tools.

The AI Readiness Score consists of an A through F grading scale and evaluates furniture retailers across six dimensions. These include product data quality, GEO visibility, review ecosystem, site architecture, first-party data and conversational commerce.

According to DOVR's initial assessments across its network of over 1,000 storefronts, the majority of independent furniture retailers currently score in the D or F range, meaning they are functionally invisible to AI systems like ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews and Perplexity. 

“If a consumer searches ‘What's the best furniture store near me for a sectional’ and your store doesn't show up in the answer, you've lost that customer before they ever had a chance to walk through your door,” said CEO and Founder of DOVR Media Jake Freedman. “When a customer asks an AI assistant, this is more than a theoretical concern, it’s already happening thousands of times a day across the country.”

That shopping journey is fundamentally changing because a growing share of consumers are bypassing traditional search engine results entirely. A recent Provoke Insights survey found that 43 percent of furniture shoppers want personalized AI-driven product recommendations and chatbot experiences. Among shoppers aged 30 to 39, adoption of AI design tools for furniture purchases has already reached 42 percent. 

Research presented at the HFA Seminar Series at Fall 2025 High Point Market, drawing from a survey of over 9,000 U.S. consumers, confirmed that digital innovation in furniture retail has accelerated faster in the last five years than in the preceding several decades. Yet a majority of independent retailers have not kept pace. 

“Our AI readiness score is a transparent way to show retailers where they stand,” Freedman said. ‘This is vital to the survival of many retailers. It’s not a sales pitch, it’s a score. It shows the gap you are facing and the path to close it. The retailers who close that gap before their competitors figure out what is happening, will own their local markets for years.”
