Following a record-setting turnout that raised over $100,000 from its annual Lake Lure golf tournament last year, The Common Thread for the Cure Foundation is building on that momentum with new fundraising efforts that support individuals in the design and furnishings industry in the fight against breast cancer.
“Last year’s annual golf tournament drew a record number of golfers, supporters, sponsors, and industry partners, helping the event surpass previous fundraising totals and marking one of the most successful events in the organization’s history,” said Jane Barea, Foundation president.
“That success has driven the incredible momentum we’re experiencing this year, with industry organizations across the country stepping up to host fundraising events in support of our mission.”
Encouraged by record participation and increased industry support, The Common Thread for the Cure is continuing with its annual Lake Lure Golf Tournament at the Rumbling Bald Resort on April 24. In addition, industry organizations are moving forward with new fundraising initiatives.
Events are taking place nationwide throughout the year, including a Casino Night scheduled for April 9, hosted by industry sales representatives in Tampa, Florida, followed by a 25th Anniversary Celebration on April 14, also hosted by a group of sales representatives in New Jersey.
Other events include the annual Glamping event in October, in Santa Barbara, CA, featuring participation by multiple industry companies, a Rose and Resilience event, in Western Michigan in October, a New York City Gala, also in October, and a Sarasota, Florida event in November hosted by the Interior Design Society. Additional events include an Ornament Exchange, in two North Carolina locations in December, organized by employees of Momentum Textiles & Wallcovering.
These events and others will unite organizations from across the industry to honor the legacy of the Common Thread for the Cure and support survivors as they focus on healing while raising funds for future grants.
